Talk to us about your A Texas Ranger Wade Justus Series. Where did the inspiration come from, how did it come into fruition and why was this series important to you as an author?
The series came about through a desire to take my experience as a police detective and forensic criminologist and share it with my readers in highly accurate portrayals of real law enforcement forensic investigations surrounding believable story lines.
The latest book in the A Texas Ranger Wade Justus Series, ‘Border Justus’ became a bestseller this past week. What are some of the keys to its success?
I would say having a good imagination, knowledge of the subject matter, development of unique, believable characters, choosing a contemporary storyline and tenacity in writing every day and pushing myself to be a better writer every day.
Texas, Mexico, cartels, and Syrian terrorist cells all engulf the reader into a new adventure for Justus. How does this story differ from the other two books in the series?
A unique, believable storyline, new antagonists for my main character Texas Ranger Wade Justus to deal with and a new backdrop in the dangerous border desert areas of New Mexico and Mexico.
What is the one takeaway that you hope people walk away with from reading this captivating thriller?
My goal for each Wade Justus adventure is to educate my readers on new aspects of law enforcement investigations, forensics and specific types of crimes. Absolute Justus is about serial murders and forensic investigations. Justus for All is about terrorism, anti-terrorist investigations, forensics and international cooperations between U.S. and Italian investigators. Border Justus is all about understanding what transnational cartels are, how they really work and the extreme dangers posed to America. Also, since I do all of my research on-site in the various national and international locations depicted in all of my books, I provide a very accurate travel log for my readers so they become familiar with the actual locations.
Now that Border Justus is out, is there a fourth book on the way? What can people expect next from Ron Martinelli?
Another exciting trip back to Italy to fight terrorists again, a budding relationship between Wade and Dr. Dakota Shannon; the return of Carabinieri ROS Investigatore Lida Aldobrandini, TBI Special Agent Hunter Justus, and a cast of unique bad and good guy characters.
