Sometimes what you desire for yourself is not meant for you, and you realize it quite later in life. Fabian Sanelli, one of Australia’s top auctioneers, had to go through a similar situation to be where he is today. All the hurdles in his life helped him hone his communication and negotiation skills. Today, Fabian is an energetic and unique auctioneer who has helped people build fortunes in the real estate business.

The early life of Fabian Sanelli was not exactly a bed of roses. Although his Italian family gave him a rich, disciplined childhood, he had to endure various academic struggles. Fabian wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps in becoming a well-known lawyer, but he couldn’t make it due to unsatisfactory grades. This disheartened him for a while, but his father suggested that he should get into the real estate business and use his likable nature to go on his journey.

Before starting this new venture, he enrolled in a real estate program and junior cadetship in Melbourne’s CBD. He learned to market and negotiate offers. He further learned the art of auctioneering, which opened many opportunities for him. When he started working with an auctioneering company, he was able to conduct many successful campaigns, which made him his boss’s favorite. “My boss was surprised that I volunteered for auctions; my experience wasn’t enough back then. The next day, they asked me to conduct an auction in the central city park. It was unreal, but I believe I did amazing! This is something I will never forget, as it was the start of something big in my life.”

Moving further down this road, Fabian was lucky enough to be trained by some of the most well-known auctioneers in Melbourne. His love for his work was so much that he put a lot of effort into each auction he conducted. It took him a little while to get the hang of everything, and since then, he had the good fortune of winning every auction he became part of.

This made him realize that auctioneering is something he can pursue full-time without getting tired of it. But indulging in something entirely is hard at first. He was nervous about starting his own company and ultimately decided to work with EYS Auctions, a newly launched real estate business. Fabian soon became an asset to the company and started helping the owner grow it. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Fabian almost became a business partner for EYS Auctioneers.

Throughout his career, Fabian also served as the Managing Director of EYS and presently still, during which he presided over roughly 5000 auctions and managed the sale of property worth hundreds of millions of dollars. As of now, Fabian has become not only Melbourne’s most booked independent auctioneer but probably the most sought-after one too. His enthusiasm for the art of auctioneering made him what he is today, and he earned himself a spot on the shortlist for the REB Australian Auctioneer of the Year award in 2020, 2021, and again in 2022. Also, Fabian’s quick-paced approach regarding things has been efficient, and he has become Australia’s most-viewed auctioneer on social media.

When talking about his success, Fabian gives all the credit to his abundant energy, excitement, and passion for achieving a spot in real estate. He was a nobody when he started, and the competition didn’t overwhelm him. Instead, he worked his way up slowly and steadily, improving with each passing day. “So far, life has been pretty good to me, and I do not regret how it took me to a different path than I had initially planned for myself. All I could do was trust the process, and I’m glad I did.”
