Kelly Kubicek believes in making HR both more personal and more transparent. For the past few years, she has run Fulcrum HR Consulting, consulting with companies across various industries and helping them become more welcoming and efficient.

She teaches Human Resources  departments and C-suite executives innovative human capital strategies and industry best practices. Her favorite lessons revolve around showing companies how to develop competitive advantage through strategic human capital initiatives that drive business performance and impact their bottom line. .

Her unique techniques for inspiring teams and leading high performing, satisfied employees have resonated with the leaders of Fortune 500 companies and governmental bodies, earning her a solid reputation as an HR thought-leader.

Today, Fulcrum concentrates its efforts on HR outsourcing, consulting, and training and development.

About Kelly Kubicek

“The problem was, HR was so transactional then, and I knew there was a better way for companies to attract — and retain — the best talent and for employees to feel that there is an equal give-and-take at play,” she said.

After a few more years in the field and continuing to observe many problems in the world of corporate HR, she followed her intuition, branching out on her own in her first consultancy. At that time, she gained a reputation as  the ‘social intelligence guru.’ “I felt there was a better way to manage people. I never want employees to feel alone, and I think each of them deserves the chance to truly make an impact ,” she said.

Her hunch and hard work paid off. Among her career highlights has been becoming a highly sought after HR consultant. Notably, she has been cited for her role in the successful HRIS and payroll system implementation  for the State of Nebraska. She was tasked with developing a team of staff under a  shared service model while implementing  one unified system to consolidate the HR records and payroll of over 9,000 Nebraska state employees. She managed the entire operation in under 12 months, saving the state countless hassles and administrative fees.

High-value Human Capital

Placing a high value on your workers is one of the Fulcrum HR Consulting tenets. Kubicek believes in making each of her client’s workplaces the sort of place where people can’t wait to arrive in the morning.

She believes in increasing the value of your human capital by getting serious about retention and getting better performance out of your current staff. After all, retaining knowledgeable employees is much more time and cost effective than running an HR blitz and training new staff each year, she explained.

Over the last few years, human capital initiatives  in consulting have become the firm’s main focuses. By creating diverse and inclusive workplaces, companies can far better retain staff for long tenures. After all, everyone loves coming to work in a place where they feel accepted and included, don’t they?

Social Intelligence in HR

Another vital idea that Kubicek and her team advocate is to run an HR department with grit and grace  to have the most successful and authentic connections with staff.

She understands this point well as someone who has gone through hard times in her life and career. “You don’t know what people are going through in their lives outside the office. There could be illness, violence, mental health issues, family problems; it’s always better to lead from a place of understanding,” she said.

“Understanding how others are naturally wired to behave and how they want to receive information is integral to the success of any team”

Build Human ROI

Have you ever heard of Human ROI? To Kubicek and Fulcrum HR Consulting, it stands for “return on individuals,” and it all leads back to valuing your employees — and making sure they know that you see their essential contributions.

So far, the companies that have benefited from Kubicek’s consulting services report a staggering average increase of 27% increased revenue per head and a 21% increase in retention

She says that “grit and grace” have guided her philosophies that allowed  her to succeed so far, and the HR field is thanking her for her contributions.
