Bryan Gorrita’s Philosophy on Control

The concept of control is one of the most highly debated topics in the world of human philosophy. The idea that while even being as complex as a society that people choose to live in, the question that is always posed is, are we as people actually in control of our lives? While some may take the time to debate, modern entrepreneurs like Bryan Gorrita have decided to seize control for themselves regardless.

Bryan is a second-generation Cuban American born and raised in Miami-Dade. Due to Bryan’s father, an entrepreneur himself, Bryan got a firsthand look into what it takes to run a business and to work hard at something that you believe in. As Bryan was working his way through college, his family received devastating news in the weeks before he was scheduled to graduate. The home they were renting had been sold, and they were forced to move out immediately. “For a few months my family was separated, and we were living with other family members and close friends. While sleeping in my friend’s garage, I made a personal declaration to myself that I nor my family will never be placed in this situation ever again as long as I live,” says Bryan

Bryan soon developed a hearty resolve and so decided to take his career to the next level by starting in real estate in order to finally give himself a sense of that authority over his life which would become represented financially, as well as physically in the way of “having the ability to buy your time back and to afford the kind of life we desire for ourselves and our families.”

Bryan Gorrita seems to believe that control tends to be presented in a way that aligns itself with the concept of freedom, especially in entrepreneurship. ”My motivation was to gain control of my life and not become a cog in the wheel of society. I also wanted to change the standards of my family and friends by breaking limiting beliefs in myself in order to show others that they too have the power to change their lives if they chose to”. Gaining control of one’s life typically means that freedom is not very far behind for everyone around.
