Some YouTubers, Instagram models, and TikTok video creators have worked their way up to securing roles on TV shows and movies. It is not an easy journey due to competition and high standards demanded by Hollywood directors and producers. But for Egyptian-born Instagram star Beshoy Mehany, his dawn came barely three years since he started creating prank videos and sharing them with fans.

Mehany chose to follow the social media road to stardom because other platforms seemed unproductive and competitive. Many aspiring actors have the training and talent to make it in Hollywood, but sometimes that is not enough. It takes creativity, persistence, and putting their talent out there where producers and talent agents look.

“In the three years I have created videos and shared with my fans, there is one thing that has kept me going; seeing other internet celebrities securing roles in million-dollar movies and TV shows. I chose the social media road because the acting industry needs creativity and going over the top with your talent. I am happy that someone saw my talent and gave me a chance to prove myself,” said Mehany.

Mehany was born in Cairo, Egypt but his parents relocated to the US when he was young. He grew up in New Jersey, where he attended William L. Dickinson High School. He nurtured his acting and soccer talent in high school by joining the soccer team and attending acting classes. Mehany is also a mechanical engineering graduate from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

When starting in the Instagram space, Mehany faced several challenges that could discourage an aspiring creator. For one, it was hard for him to purchase the necessary recording and editing equipment with the little amount he had saved. Secondly, he started as a novice with no prior experience in video editing.

“For you to create high-quality content that will attract millions of views from fans, you have to use the necessary equipment and know how to edit the raw videos. When I started creating, I had to learn on the job, and it took some time before fans started appreciating my videos,” added Mehany.

Despite the challenges, the internet star has strived to create lovable content that has gotten him a role in an upcoming car heist thriller, Gain. The movie will premier in 2022 and is one of his breakout roles, though not the first. In 2011, Mehany appeared in the reality TV show Bear Swamp Recovery as a party boy.

“Cameras, lights, and acting have always fascinated me since I was nine years old. My parents knew how passionate I was about it and enrolled me in acting classes to nurture my talent. My focus right now is on acting, and Gain lays a good foundation to build my career,” noted Mehany.

The 29-year old is also passionate about modeling and is currently in a paid partnership with iModel Apparel to promote their fashion brands. He is also a fitness enthusiast, letting in his fans on his workout videos once in a while.

Mehany has his eyes on acting for now, but he is still working on more prank videos. He says to make it in the competitive Hollywood scene, aspiring artists have to set their goals and work towards achieving them.

“Attitude is everything when it comes to starting your own business. Having set goals is also important because dreams do come true if you work for them. Never give up, and do not be scared of falling a million times. Nothing in life is worthwhile unless we take risks,” he advised.

Mehany seeks to use his acting talent as a vessel to achieve his financial freedom and support his family. Follow him on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and subscribe to his YouTube Channel.
