The United States borders have been blocked by UK travellers. Since March 17, 2020, only holders of green cards and specialised diplomatic visas can travel from the United Kingdom to the United States. This, however, had a huge impact on both sides of the tourist industry. Looking forward for ESTA renewal and waiting to travel to the USA this summer?  Here is all the information you should consider before travelling to the US.

What is the current Covid restriction in US lockdown?

Domestic travellers are welcome again in New York, the initial epicentre of the Covid epidemic in the United States; nearly all face mask regulations have been lifted as the city has reached its 70% immunisation objective — the same is true in Los Angeles.

However, as coronavirus infections decline and vaccination programmes ramp up in both nations, many scientists – and optimistic vacationers – believe the tide will finally turn this summer.

Under an amber and green travel categories system adding to the present red list, some UK overseas travel began to restart on 17 May. The US is now classified as an amber.

The scheme allows UK citizens and nationalities to visit ‘green’ nations without going through quarantine. Future green listed locations will be classified as “countries where we estimate the danger to be reduced, based on immunisations, infection rates, the prevalence of worry variations, and their genome sequencing capability (or access to genomic sequencing),” according to the government.

For ‘red’ countries, a necessary 10-day hotel quarantine remains in place, whilst ‘amber’ countries are only recommended for essential travel, with mandatory COVID testing before departure and on arrival, as well as a 10-day quarantine period upon return to the UK.

How to travel US this summer?

Due to the quick immunisation programme, the United States may likely be added to the UK’s green list in the following weeks or months. The US is now on the UK’s amber list, it was most recently updated on June 24th to reflect modifications that took effect on June 30th.

Right now, you may only go to the United States if you are a permanent resident or have a unique, limited visa (e.g., for UN staff and diplomats). Since March 2020, British people have been prohibited from entering (or transiting through) the United States if they have spent the preceding 14 days in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Schengen zone, Brazil, China, Iran, or South Africa, since these countries are also subject to a travel ban.

How can you travel to the US entry requirements?

If you are eligible to travel to the United States, you must provide a negative COVID test result (antigen or PCR) within 72 hours of arrival. Every airplane arriving in the United States must also quarantine at least seven days and do a COVID-19 test, according to Centre for Disease Control, between three to five days following arrival According to the United States (CDC).

whether you have been vaccinated or not, the CDC advises you to use a nose and mouth mask that will be essential for your journey in aircraft, buses, trains, airports and resorts. You should also remain two metres apart from each other, wash your hands often or use a hand sanitiser that has at least 60% alcohol.

COVID-19 Testing exemptions for travel to U.S.

The CDC may provide testing exemptions on a minimal basis when unusual emergency travel is required to protect someone’s life.

Individuals who test positive with COVID-19 are not eligible for exemptions. Individuals – or air travellers wishing to enable possibly qualified individuals to board – who feel they fulfil the criteria for a waiver may contact the US Embassy London and give the information listed below.

To travel he following information must be given:

  • Name, passport number, and country
  • If there is a family unit, the passenger’s cell phone number should include the country code.
  • If a family unit, the email address of the traveller or the head of the household
  • Destination address in the United States
  • Is the destination address in the United States
  • The date of departure
  • If the submitting entity is not the same as the passenger, give it a different name.
  • Name of the firm making the submission on behalf of the passenger(s) (if applicable)
  • Name of the person who is submitting on behalf of the passenger(s) (if applicable)
  • Purpose of visit to the United States (provide a brief explanation of why the trip is necessary and how it will benefit the passengers’ health and safety)
  • If available, documentation to back up the test waiver reason

Conclusion

Wondering how you can travel to the USA this summer and do a ESTA renewal? It has made it very difficult to travel throughout the world because of the pandemic condition. But there are possibilities you can enter the US with the important reason of travel. Also, you can consider policies if you are trying to find out the way to join the US. Here we have discussed all the information you need before travelling to the US.
