The long-awaited Bond by Fire Comedy and Music concert — postponed multiple times due to Texas unforgivable and unforeseen weather — it finally happened on July 2nd at the Sunset Room.

Intimate venues like Sunset Room offered the comedians and musical acts great leverage for audience engagement. The building was shaking with people laughing hysterically the entire time and chanting thoroughly with the music acts. Witnessing exceptional comedians share the stage was so refreshing. If you missed the show, these are the four acts we believed stood out the most.

# 1.  Tribe Mafia

Tribe Mafia, the Austin-Based hip-hop duo comprised of two vocalist Chinasa Broxton and Carlos “Dashawn Daniels” Moore.  This duo emits the type of stage presence that reflects Rockstar energy with a dash of humor and humble. The duo was accompanied by the three-piece band, Cold Rice. Broxton and Daniels stated while opening their set, this marked the duo’s first live performance in months.

“We only had 8 business days to actually rehearse with Cold Rice, and the connection we established with them was contagious. I am sure as time progress we will definitely tighten up our performances for future acts. But tonight, I had a blast!” – Tribe Mafia

The duo brought a different vibe to the proceedings, focusing on the tones of Cold Rice and special guest Muriel “TheOakCliffPrincess” exuding the kind of onstage chemistry you can only get from an intimately connected pair like Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin.

# 2 Deric Poston

Stand-up comedian Deric Poston is a born natural people pleaser. One of Poston strengths is his way of sharing personal relatable and unrealistic fantasies. He filled the room with such poise and charisma with every joke he shared transitioned like butter. In effect, each line had the audience laughing hysterically out of control.

# 3. Brennon Cole

This emerging rap artist by the name Brennon Cole had the audience in his complete control. Cole is the definition of a showstopper. Cole wrapped up his final set with an acapella freestyle powering up the audience with an affirmative message about self-perception. Regardless of the many directions that rap music has reserved, one component music goers will always have admiration for is the art to freestyle. It’s difficult enough within him/herself to compose a rhyme that will enchant the universe but to spit commanding bars on the spot fortifies a rapper into the “extremely respected” category eternally. Cole left the stage with an impressionable impression, now we may only yearn for this rappers’ return to Austin, Texas for another fantastic production.

# 4. D.Harmon

All D.Harmon requires is a microphone and the rest is for the books. Watching from afar, the rapper was able to work the crowd effortlessly encouraging them to groove, jump and sing to his ballads verbatim. Harmon’s song “Oulala” has an impeccable ring to it when performed live. This artists energy is infectious! Keeping up with his fast-paced lyrical delivery was most enjoyable to witness.

With numerous mass public events in Texas, it is almost certain several of the event programs and public events like Rolling Loud, SXSW, ACL and LOLLAPALOOZA will begin to straddle there way back to their consumers with live music. ATX Artist Social, Paradox Production and Collectively Classic’s “Bond by Fire” Music and Comedy Showcase was sponsored by Jack Daniels.

Be sure to follow these amazing musicians and comedians for more upcoming performances.
