5 Ways To Become More Engaging On Social Media

1. Host Contests For Creativity

Creative contests or giveaways are a great way to keep current followers engaged and gain new ones for your social media page. If you’re active on more than one platform, host a different contest on each one to see which one works for optimum engagement.

There are many ways you can host a contest ranging from something minimally engaging such as like or comment to win, or host a caption contest for a posted photo. You may also consider hosting contests that ask followers to answer trivia questions or choose a multiple choice answer for a poll.

Make sure you drum up as much interest as possible around your social media contest. Let people know by sending out a newsletter, posting about it on your website, and cross-posting your social media pages. It is important, however, that the winner of the contest receives something related to your business. This can be something like a gift certificate, a trial product or service, and even a meet and greet with the owner. It is important that the prizes you give out reinforce what your company does. Most importantly, be kind to the people that participate but don’t win by sending a follow-up email thanking them for their participation.

2. Add Visual Interest To All Of Your Posts

When it comes to getting your social media content seen, make sure you spark interest by adding evocative visuals. Interesting or bright photos and quality graphics increase the likelihood of someone reading your content by 94 percent!

Still not convinced you need visual gimmicks? Consider this: social media content that contains images is 40 times more likely to get shared than posts that don’t. On Instagram, there’s a 38 percent chance of people liking your posts when a face photo is shared!

If you need a free graphics design tool, Canva is a good one to get you started. It can help you add interest to your posts with limited effort.

3. Create More Videos

Video content is perhaps the most prolific for getting people interested in your posts. In fact, according to Facebook, 50 percent of American users watch at least one video per day. This means that your business can seriously benefit from native video uploads!

Make sure your video uploads are all set to play automatically on the social media platform of your choosing. This will grab people’s attention and extend your reach as well as improve overall engagement.

4. Respond Promptly To Fan Mail

Your fans expect a response from you in a timely manner online, as was revealed by recent studies. In fact, 83 percent of Facebook and 71 percent of Twitter fans expect a same-day response to their inquiries. However, Twitter is more shocking as it was revealed that 32 percent of users expect a response in under an hour.

Choosing to remain exceptionally responsive provides social media followers with a unique and unparalleled experience. Interact with your Facebook page fans by using messenger, and fortunately, you can now use Businesses on Messenger to privately address public comments. You can earn a badge by being as responsive as you possibly can be!

Make your online community of followers feel heard and acknowledged. Whenever someone shares, likes or comments on your posts on Twitter and Instagram, publicly thank them. By interacting with fans directly, they’re more likely to become loyal followers that will advocate for your brand. Find out more about social interactions for your brand at Social Shaft.

5. Regularly Update Profile Photos And Banners

The most often overlooked real estate on your social media pages are the banners and profile pictures. They are highly impactful visual mediums that can draw attention right away when carefully chosen. Use these photos to really showcase the efforts of your company and how you change people’s lives for the better.

Facebook photos should get replaced monthly, and make sure to always type a great caption. Spend some time creating a nice banner for your Twitter profile! Instead of stretching your profile logo and making it pixelated, put some extra thought into your presence to make it memorable. Customize your channels with a personal touch that adds humanity and a relatable aura to your business. With so much competition in the world today, give your business a competitive edge by being different!
