David Bond is a YouTuber whose videos are a mix of beautiful women, travel vlogging, advice for men and Cryptocurrency. He’s amassed over 500,000 subscribers over the years and what makes him unique is how much hate and controversy surrounds him.

All big YouTubers have haters but David Bond’s haters are on an entirely different level – the hatred for David Bond even approaches a religious cult like hate.

Simply open twitter and type “David Bond” or “Steven Mapel” and scroll through an ocean of tweets calling him everything from a pedophile rapist to a criminal mastermind on the run.

There are literally hundreds of articles going back all the way to 2014 about David Bond and why he’s such a “bad man”.

However when you watch his videos it’s hard to find where these wild conspiracy theories are coming from. There must be some truth to the claims made about David Bond – right?

We decided to investigate – is it true what they say about David Bond?

“David Bond is wanted by the Indonesian authorities”

One of the major claims about David Bond is that he is “wanted by the Indonesian authorities” as claimed by Byron Perry’s Coconuts.co

The article titled “Indonesian officials on lookout for David Bond, ‘pick up artist’ accused of sexually exploiting women throughout Asia” claims that:

“Indonesian authorities have also been made aware of Campbell, with the Jakarta Metro Police saying he could potentially be investigated”

So is this true? Is David Bond wanted by the Indonesian police?

When we investigated this claim we first went to David Bond’s YouTube channel to look at when he last visited Indonesia. We quickly noticed David Bond had visited the country of Indonesia two times (June 2018 and March of 2020) since this claim about him was made.

If David was “wanted by the authorities” in 2017, how could he visit the country in 2018 and 2020 without any issues?

We contacted the Bali Metro Police and the Jakarta Metro Police to see if there were any arrest warrants. We spoke with the Indonesian authorities a total of three times and gave them David Bond’s real name (Steven Mapel).

“We found no criminal charges or warrants for this individual” said the Jakarta Metro Police and the Bali authorities confirmed the same status.

What we found very odd about the Coconuts article is not only is the author not named, but video they choose to show in the article is quite innocent – the video is David and a friend taking selfies with what appear to be very happy Indonesian people.

We reached out to the CEO of Coconuts Byron Perry to ask why this article is still online – we were quickly blocked.

Final Verdict: FALSE

“David Bond sells sex tapes”

We found dozens of articles claiming that David Bond films and distributes sex tapes online. This claim is also the oldest claim made about David Bond, going back as far as 2013.

Does David Bond have sex tapes? Does he sell sex videos?

We spent 17 hours searching the web for anything that even resembled a sex tape of David Bond  and found absolutely nothing – we even tried the dark web.

After failing to find a single video let alone a single image of David Bond having sex, we decided to purchase every single one of David Bond’s digital products – including his OnlyFans!

We watched every single episode of every single program he’s ever made, we watched every minute of all 120+ videos in “The Vault” and we even watched all of his OnlyFans videos.

Not only did we not find a sex tape, we did not even see nudity!

We had trouble believing these “sex tapes” did not exist considering we counted 19 articles that claimed that did – so we asked David Bond himself.

“I have no sex tapes, I just paid people to lie to the media years ago that I did. Nobody ever actually fact checked anything but the rumor still lingers online” David Bond told us before quickly going offline.

Final Verdict: FALSE

“David Bond sexually harasses women”

This claim is much harder to investigate as what qualifies as “harassment” is not objective. We did however try our best to research whether or not David Bond (real name Steven Mapel) does indeed ‘harass’ women.

We watched all 150+ of his youtube videos, all 120+ of his “Vault” videos, and every episode of his programs that included a woman or women – we found a lot of awkward compliments but nothing that any reasonable person would qualify as harassment.

The worst video we could find was a video of a woman throwing food at David Bond after she realized who he was, but in the video David does not initiate the interaction – he was actually filming a drunk friend dancing.

The video starts with him filming his friend dancing to the music, David makes a joke that he should breakdance, and a few seconds later a woman approaches David Bond and says “Are you David Bond? You’re a pedophile!” and begins to follow David into a 711.

David only says “I’m not a pedophile, leave me alone, I don’t know you, please leave me alone” and eventually leaves the scene.

That video was the worst we could find, but David was the one being harassed and not the other way around.

We didn’t find a single video of David raising his voice, using force, or even getting angry – most of the videos we watched that contained women were of them laughing or kissing him.

Final Verdict: FALSE

“David Bond’s real name is Steven Mapel”

There are at least 4 names people speculate is David Bond’s real name: David Hunter, David Campbell, Steven Mapel, and lastly Muhammad Ayoob.

David Bond’s real name is Steven Mapel.

We ran all of these names through a background check service and the only one which matches his photo and age is Steven Mapel.

We also found that David Bond (real name Steven Mapel) is from Fresno California and did previously work at a carrot factory in Fresno.

Final Verdict: TRUE

In summary we found virtually every popular negative claim about David Bond to be completely false. We reached out to many of his critics to ask what inspired them to post such wild things about this YouTuber but none agreed to comment.

Our take away from this investigation was that readers should be more skeptical about what they’re reading online as much of it could be fabricated due to an agenda by the author.

We don’t like David Bond’s content or endorse his views on women, marriage & politics – but we do know that he is a very misunderstood individual.
