Thousands and millions of people struggle to navigate their way through life, and every day is a battle. Once they finally get the opportunity to rest, they try to distract themselves with different things. For people like Sharn Forrest, music was not just an escape but a goal to work towards. Today, Forrest has established himself as a promising artist by the stage name Inky.

Born in Jamaica, Inky is a Caribbean rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He would later move to the island of St. Maarten as a child, idolizing people like Dame Dash, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. While their music captured his heart, Inky found inspiration with their business ventures too. It was how they built brands and went beyond music to create different impacts that encouraged him to strive for a similar path. “I want to build an authentic and unique brand that stands out within the culture that attracts billion-dollar investors and large corporations that have products and services that I can partner with that can make a change to the community through my fan base,” revealed the aspiring artist.

At the age of fourteen, Inky started to pursue music. He took on the stage name Young S as his first identity. Throughout the years, his passion never wavered as Inky believed that his career was in music. Collaborating with the local musicians and rappers on the island of St. Maarten and New York, he started building his reputation. Eventually, he switched to his Inky stage name, which became more popular.

Inky grew older and more mature and eventually became a father, giving him more motivation to take his solo career more seriously. His music has been published independently through his label, Ink Gang. The record label prides itself as a modern brand that is bass-heavy and full of lyricism and good melodies. The tracks showcase his potential to become a top hip-hop artist. Inky himself spends hours in his studio, focused on perfecting his craft to bring enjoyable content to the industry and his fans worldwide.

As an artist, Inky creates timeless music. Like most musicians today, Inky pays tribute to his upbringing and injects the Caribbean spirit into his works. He strives to create songs that help everyday people through their lives, whether studying or working at a job they hate. Inky refers to his music as a potent stress reliever that takes listeners to a whole new world, melting away their hardships and taking them to his creative space where Inky takes control of their wandering minds through his lyrics.

“I’m really here to stay, unlike my other peers who are just in it for the monetary gains,” the artist revealed. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to still make sure I’m straight and also take good care of my people along with the community, but I won’t be going anywhere. I’m like a solid foundation planted in the center of the cultures. That’s how I want to be cemented, and I do know that will take a lot of work. However, I already started to apply pressure, and I won’t let up.”

With his career moving at a steady pace, Inky has set his sights on the future. He foresees himself running an established brand in hip-hop culture, standing among the elite names in the music industry, focusing on his artistic growth and helping others build their reputations.
