Shilajit, also labeled as the “Destroyer Of Weakness” by Ayurvedic practitioners, is one of the herbo-minerals, which has played an essential role in the disease curing process for decades. Shilajit, or in English named Asphaltum, is a potent adaptogenic and aphrodisiac herb. It is used to treat conditions such as dysuria, glycosuria, respiratory problems, gastrointestinal disorders, kidney stones, edema, skin infections, phthisis, piles, anemia, seizures, mental disorders, and worm infestation. Shilajit’s key objective is to keep the thyroid gland in check and increase its efficiency.

Alternate Names for Shilajit’s

Asphaltum, Black Bitumen, or Mineral Pitch are some of the famous names for Shilajit. Mommie, Moomiyo, Mamiya, and mumijo are some of the other words for Shilajit in Ayurved.

What Is Shilajit?

Shilajit is a unique, tar-like resinous material that is neither entirely plant nor entirely animal in composition. Shilajit is a kind of mineral pitch exhibited from rocks throughout the Caucasus, Siberia, Himalayas, Andes, Colorado Rocky Mountains and many other mountain regions,  at an elevation of 1000 to 5000 meters above sea level. It is composed mainly of humus and decayed plant remains.

Shilajit’s Wellness Advantages

Diabetes is in check.

Shilajit’s outstanding hypoglycaemic property aids in regulating blood pressure and lipid profiles in diabetic patients, mainly when used in conjunction with diabetes medications. When you take shilajit formulations, the pancreatic cells’ insulin output becomes active. It aids in the reduction of carbohydrate degradation into glucose, resulting in lower blood glucose levels.

It helps improve brain function.

Shilajit is a standard medicine used to improve brain function. The development of biologically active small molecules known as dibenzo-alpha-pyrones inhibits the degradation of memory-enhancing brain chemicals, thus improving memory capability, attention, concentration, calmness, and alertness. Shilajit supplements or other preparations, as a brain stimulant and stimulator, enhance memory, thinking, problem-solving, and different cognitive capacities and are therefore used to combat Alzheimer’s disease and other psychotic disorders.

Protects From Intestinal Problems

Shilajit’s anti-inflammatory and purgative effects aid in suppressing the poisonous bacteria Helicobacter pylori, thus preventing it from developing in the intestine. It effectively avoids constipation and piles via softening the stool and promoting smooth passage across the body, thanks to its deep laxative properties and peristaltic influence. It also stops the blood in the colon from drying up and may trigger stomach pain, distension, bowel distress, flatulence, and colic.

Stress And Anxiety Treatments

Shilajit is a potent adaptogen that can help with various psychotic issues such as autism, schizophrenia, and others. It balances the Vata and Pitta doshas in the body, which regulates serotonin levels and tends to alleviate anxiety symptoms such as agitation, restlessness, and cold hands and feet.

The herb’s powerful antidepressant properties often aid in mind relaxation, reducing physical and mental discomfort, irritability, and increasing endurance and strength.
