Amid these trying times, health has gone to the top of people’s priority. Pharmacy One Plus has stepped up to fulfill its purpose with everyone needing medical attention and utmost protection from the unseen threat.

Pharmacy One Plus, based in Chicago, Illinois, is a pharmacy built for underrepresented and underserved communities. Founded by Majd Ibrahim, the company aims to provide quality medical supplies to areas that big pharmaceutical firms would otherwise overlook. As a first-generation immigrant to the United States, the CEO knows how difficult it is to access quality medicine and supplies with all the barriers, such as culture, social standing, or finances.

“Our pharmacy cares about you and your health,” said Majd Ibrahim. “As your partner in health care, your safety and comfort are among our greatest priority, especially in the current outbreak we are facing,” he added.

Even with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Pharmacy One Plus continually forwarded its mission to make quality medicine and supplies accessible for all. The company opened three new branches across Chicago despite the difficulties and risks of opening businesses today. Majd Ibrahim shared that it has not been easy to open pharmacies in underserved areas and properly allocate resources to such branches. But with the help of the founder’s trusted partner Jawad Rabi and his team, Pharmacy One Plus has provided over 12,000 COVID-19 exam kits and donated thousands to the community.

Furthermore, Pharmacy One Plus goes above and beyond opening branches in various areas. The company also offers free delivery across Chicago, in which they use special packaging that complies with health standards. They also provide medicine and medical equipment at competitive to low prices. As the founder expressed, the pharmacy is “one of the few mom and pop shops fighting for the people.”

Pharmacy One Plus also provides opportunities to people of multicultural backgrounds. Currently, the pharmacy employs multicultural workers who can speak English, Spanish, Russin, and Arabic. Majd Ibrahim wanted to create an inclusive and culturally diverse environment to set an example for other companies to follow.

Asked what motivated him to start Pharmacy One Plus, Majd Ibrahim shared that he was displeased with the lack of transparency from big pharmaceutical companies, treating clients not as people but as mere statistics. “I am a first-generation immigrant in this country, and I remember we had such trouble when we went to pick up my parents’ medications as a child. Due to the language barrier, we also never could find at-home remedies. It truly made us feel like outsiders,” said Majd. “Jawad Rabi and I vowed to revolutionize the way pharmacies did business so that we could get the warm, safe feeling that any pharmacy should have,” he added.

Going through such challenges fueled Majd Ibrahim to make a difference and focus on the bigger picture. Pharmacy One Plus is cemented on a larger perspective, one that sees the gaps in the industry and seeks to fill them with innovation. “It is a leader’s responsibility to be a visionary and to put it into perspective,” said the founder.
