Meet A&R Manager Niyah Smith

A&R and Artist Manager, Niyah Smith, has a story that some in the world may see as a miracle and others, as his destiny. At 28 years old, Niyah is actively breaking down barriers and moulding a new path for youngsters just like him.

Niyah’s story began in a tower block located in Homerton, East London. His mother always had high ambitions for him. Despite the local gang violence and crime, Niyah stayed focused and earned good grades throughout his time school. Growing up Niyah always had a love for music. He was surrounded by the sounds of Reggae/R&B and he was a skilled pianist. In addition he played tennis until aged 13, in which he participated in tournaments all over the nation. He also become a coach, teaching others how to play tennis which ended rapidly after a game of football.

However due to wrong place wrong time, Niyah was arrested under unfortunate circumstances. Having been arrested for the very first time and no linked knowledge to the underlying reason as to why he was there in the first place, he made the most of an unforeseen situation. Niyah was accepted on the Feltham music course where he would study Songwriting and Sound engineering and learn the skill of recording, mixing/mastering and playing the new instruments.

After 4+ years and 4 different locations, Niyah would come out as a highly skilled engineer with a focus on becoming an artist manager. In his spare time, he would host events, look for unsigned acts and consult for many different artists.

Stefflondon created her 54 London label which was then signed to Universal Music Group, where Niyah would take the role of A&R Manager. To strengthen his music business knowledge, Niyah joined Notting Hill of Academy in 2019 to study A&R and Artist Management.
