In the case of Evette Vargas, the esteemed founder of The Writers Room 5050 Foundation, Inc., it was shown how powerful one’s perseverance and determination are in the face of challenges. 

On a mission to share her creative vision with the world, award-winning writer Evette Vargas uses her craft to speak her truth. Immensely fueled by the desire to make a meaningful impact, this visionary leader intends to touch as many lives as possible with her heartwarming stories and striking messages. Through her works and outputs, she sends across the message that every voice matters. True enough, The Writers Room 5050 Foundation, Inc. is the perfect platform where people are heard and seen. 

Born in the Boogie-down Bronx, Evette Vargas is a first-generation Puerto Rican Latina. Growing up in white suburbia, she felt the need to change her name to Jenny so that she could fit in. Because of her longing for acceptance, she resorted to art for comfort and solace. “I grew up drawing, painting, writing, and dancing. My creative gifts allowed me to get through hard times, find my voice, and stand out,” she said. Today, this laudable figure utilizes her visual storytelling, design, and writing skills for all her projects. 

Widely acknowledged for being an outstanding director, producer, and immersive storyteller, Evette Vargas was named by the New York Times as an “Artist to Watch.” This multifaceted figure has produced numerous series for Amazon, MTV, Bravo, DirectTV. In addition, she has also created interactive content for Fast and Furious, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Madonna, and Wu-Tang Clan. 

Included in Evette Vargas’ long list of accomplishments is executive producing, writing, and directing her digital series, Dark Prophet, starring Henry Rollins, who was in contention for two Emmys. She was also able to sell her drama series, Muses, to TNT Super Deluxe, develop a drama series for Entertainment One, and set up another one at MGM Television. 

As one of the foremost advocates of inclusion and equity, Evette Vargas founded The Writers Room 5050 to mentor storytellers and to create opportunities for their next-level success. The organization aims to be a catalyst of positive change and to spark a revolution. 

In an interview, Evette Vargas was asked to share about the creation of The Writers Room 5050 Foundation, Inc. and shed light on her humble beginnings. “The driving force behind my brand is the goal of capturing and representing my voice as a storyteller. On top of that, I wish to authentically tell my personal story, exhibit my relentless activism, and highlight my commitment to the movement of change,” the writer explained. “As a Latina, The Writers Room 5050 directly grew out of my advocacy for inclusion and equity in the industry,” she added. 

With no plans of slowing down anytime soon, Evette Vargas continues to inspire readers with her story, commitment, hustle, and drive. For her, nothing is more rewarding than encouraging others to take action on their dreams. In the coming years, she envisions herself running her own shows and directing episodic television.

Aside from creating an impact with her revolutionary flair, Evette Vargas also serves as the much-needed voice for aspirants and dreamers from all walks of life. Having survived seemingly insurmountable challenges, she was able to walk away with a deeper understanding of her inner strength. Thus, she uses her story to give hope and spark action.
