The 20-year old couldn’t have picked a more fitting timing to put his name out there. Poldi’s debut single ‘Liebe > Hass’ (Love is bigger than hate) was harsh contrast to recent releases in the industry. The hip-hop and rap scene, that has shifted its focus on show-boating, faked numbers of streams. The German Newcomer is a much needed fresh breeze of air.

Just as refreshing as his sound, that doesn’t try to please nostalgic generations demands to go back to the old days. Contrary, the young artist addresses the urgent topics and issues of his generation, that is confronted with the responsibility of our society’s and planet’s future.

Leopold Karrer is putting the finger where it hurts when he raps “why do we, the youngest, have to take care of the aftermath of your past irresponsibilities?”.

After the recent presidential elections in the United States, CNN rightfully commented, that “this year’s thanksgiving is going to be the most uncomfortable in decades”, pointing out the huge differences of opinions and approaches between the young and older generations.

With Poldi definitely being an advocate for progressive unity, tolerance and respect, over personal profit and materialistic interests.

The rapper shows his writing skills when breaking down the topics into clear bars, asking about the legacy of values and morals.

At this point it becomes pretty clear, that the young artist is harshly separating himself from the recently trending cut of cloth.

The German youngster grew up with what we now call old school rap, and the values of it stick with him to this day. The 20-year old artist, signed by 99 Problemz Music, states it would be unimaginable for him to rap about topics and visions that don’t represent his actual life and lifestyle. Fair enough, the lack of authenticity and genuine identification in the industry has made it a platform of rather short lived careers than stable movements. Poldi wants to build a deeper connection to his audience:

“It’s not about showing off. I want people to feel as if we’re on the same level and have similar issues. There wouldn’t be a point in talking about a lifestyle I don’t care about. I want people to know that I actually care about my listeners and the subjects I speak upon. This provides a special connection between the listener and the artist, which bragging about my wealth just won’t cut.”.

We’re looking at a newcomer, who already knows where he is going. It will be very interesting to follow him along the way.
