Pursuing social change or influencing the lives of others needs all the hands it can get. No help is too small, and every effort in the service of people and the community already goes a long way in making a difference. And this kind of mindset toward help-giving is the attitude that Fighting All Monsters wants to nurture in today’s living generations.

Fighting All Monsters, better known as FAM, is a non-profit organization that aims to bring quality support to families with children who are facing life-threatening challenges. Standing true to the concept of a family, it serves as an institution of love and support for kids with cancer.

FAM was founded by Milk Tyson, a humanitarian who thought he had a deep and intimate understanding of what tough looks like. This Hollywood insider had to survive despite the odds, making a home for himself on the streets and sharing the same air with Los Angeles’ gangs. He was quite certain he had met the roughest, scrappiest fighters around, but Milk was proven wrong when he met a young cancer warrior.

That fateful meeting led Milk to turn his life upside-down, gather the most dedicated team of volunteers, and begin emulating the inspiring grit, perseverance, and fighting spirit showcased by these fiercely brave children. With these kids as their inspiration, Milk and his team have stepped up, successfully raising well over a million dollars and donating every penny directly to FAMilies — families with children battling against a medical condition — and creating opportunities for them.

Just like how there is no one-size-fits-all treatment for cancer, FAM also does not believe that there is a superior strategy nor a one-dimensional way to assist FAMilies. This non-profit institution boasts a wide range of services, from providing kids in treatment with iPads and keeping the lights on in their houses to paying for accommodations and flights in the pursuit of life-saving treatments. In addition, it has ensured that siblings go to prom in their dream dresses, that mothers are provided with rest and recovery, and has fulfilled countless bucket lists.

The numerous and diverse initiatives that FAM has set up for its beneficiaries lie on its emphasis on taking action while others are having meetings. And it has appealed to various donors for its strict policy against the red tape as it ensures that donations go directly to families. Moreover, the way FAM distributes its funds makes it possible for emergency requests to be granted on the same day, providing much-needed help to families and their kids who are faced with life-and-death afflictions.

This year, FAM came dancing into 2020 with its “We Ain’t Going Nowhere” video, which featured Snoop Dogg and its FAMilies dancing. It was released and seen virtually and across news stations throughout the United States.

And aside from paving the way for the kids it is supporting to be featured on the Ellen Show, Fighting All Monsters has also participated in a podcast production alongside Patient Power to bring together the country’s leading experts, as well as patients nationwide, to drive forward patient advocacy and highlight empowerment. Moreover, Milk’s brainchild partnered with retailers like Kendra Scott and Apple in community outreach initiatives and fundraising activities.

Through its efforts to create meaningful experiences for FAMilies, Milk’s organization hopes to inspire the upcoming generation to be at the service of others. At any given time, someone is in need of help, and FAM wants to empower people to believe that they could make a difference in the lives of those struggling.
