According to Alphonse de Lamartine, a poet, historian, and statesman who became a vital icon in the Romantic movement of the French literature, “Music is the literature of the heart; it commences where speech ends.” Even though it has been years since Alphonse said those words, its message still speaks volumes up to date. Music is a universal language everyone understands. It can make anyone feel emotions or a mix of emotions even if the language used is unfamiliar, which makes song-writing one of the excruciating processes in music production. Jerrmal Montrell Williams is one of the visionaries who aim to deliver music that conveys messages for all.

Jerrmal uses the stage name Consensus, a name bestowed to him by his oldest brother, Jerrell Williams. As a young musician, Jerrmal continuously works on his music as his music career goes on. By the age of 17, he is already recording some originals in a professional studio. His primary genre is hip hop incorporated with neo-soul.

With the right combination of words, notes, and beat, he tells stories from his personal experiences. He developed the mastery of his distinct flow and melody for years. Some of Jerrmal’s songs are readily available on Soundcloud by searching Consensus. On July 31, 2020, he is releasing an EP named Detriment.

Aside from being a recording artist, Jerrmal also wants to turn other aspiring artists’ dreams into fruition. Hence, he and his brother, Jerron Michael Williams, established a music company named M.u.o.nlight Productions. The brothers founded the company back in 2012. The name of the company stands for Music Under One Nation. M.u.o.nlight sheds light on topics of love, peace, and justice. Their mission is to generate music that is not only good for the ears but also the mind and heart. M.u.o.nlight aims to enlighten people from this generation and for future ones.

M.u.o.nlight firmly stands by its mission and is proven by standing behind the Black Lives Matter movement. They knew that music is not discriminatory, racial, and selective; hence, so do humans. The divide caused by race, religion, class, and other societal ideologies is to be debunked by something understood by all, which is music.

Aside from supporting justice, they also see the role of music in everyone’s lives, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. Wherein, people are stuck at home, and there are higher chances of getting depressed and anxious. Therefore, their goal is to produce music that inspires and gives of positivity and, at the same time, relatable for all ages.

M.u.o.nlight makes sure that they give back to their artists as soon as their time to shine comes. The promise of providing excellent quality music that is genuinely prepared to deliver messages will continue with M.u.o.nlight and Consensus as years go on. They will continuously inspire and move others with the power of music.
