Morocco’s president of the Rabbinical Court, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto, was recently featured in a video found on Instagram and Facebook where he praises the works of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto considers The King a saint, as he is very distinct when compared to other kings. King Mohammed VI continually tries his best to serve the people of Morocco to help them live with more peace, stability, and security.

Rabbi Pinto feels His Majesty has spared no efforts in terms of making sure Jews have everything they need. He makes sure their burials are preserved, and they have Kashrut (Halal) food to eat. For these reasons, Rabbi Pinto is calling on all Moroccans to get behind their sovereign. He’s also asking all Moroccan Jews to pray that God will not only protect The King but also the entire Kingdom of Morocco.

Rabbi went even further to urge all the Jews to donate to “Israel Shova” to ensure the fund is able to redistribute gifts to needy people. He considers this a duty and responsibility for everyone in the community. The Rabbi believes that those who don’t reach out to people in need commit “a great sin”. He doesn’t believe in failing people who are deprived and needy. He’s calling for his community to be generous and give to charity as much as they can. Rabbi Pinto said that those who choose to donate shall be “rewarded by God” on Earth before being rewarded in the afterlife.

Though he wants everyone to donate, he is also urging all Jews in Morocco and around the world to adhere to their respective governments’ quarantine measures to help limit the further spread of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus.

The Rabbi recently spoke to Moroccan media outlets and explained that the community needs to respect national decisions in terms of the pandemic. He believes it is smart to adopt an effective plan of action to limit the spread. He advised all members of the public to not panic, remain civil, and comply with quarantine and social distancing rules for everyone’s safety. Rabbi Pinto also applauded the way Morocco has handled the virus and the efforts of King Mohammed VI to keep the people safe.

Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto’s grandfather was Rabbi Haim Pinto who’s laid to rest in Essaouira. The younger Rabbi was born to a Moroccan family in Israel, and from his earliest memories, he’s always had a spiritual calling. Today, he’s regarded as one of Morocco’s most acclaimed spiritual leaders. In fact, his resolute efforts earned him the title of Morocco’s most loved and appreciated Rabbi in 2019.

None of this will come as a surprise to the Moroccan Jewish community as Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto is known for a long, notable career as a generous and wise spiritual leader. The Rabbi will continue to work relentlessly around the world giving lectures and offering his consultation and wisdom to help improve the lives of everyone he meets.
