Taxi driving has been emerging as a popular occupation for Americans and it is contributing to increasing the employment rate of the country on a large scale. Since the inception of taxi services in the US, there is a rise in the number of American drivers in various cities. As per the data from the Current Population Survey (CPS), a monthly survey by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of American drivers has tripled over the last decade.
The data by CPS highlights that the American people are working as a taxi driver on a primary and secondary basis. And the high and medium density cities have seen a considerable growth in taxi driving in the US. A total of 0.3% of Americans are driving a taxi in the US and the number of taxi drivers in the high-density cities stood at 0.8% in April 2019.
The high demand for taxi services in the US is due to the ease of booking, affordable prices, and the high level of comfort it offers to people. People love to book a taxi to Newark Airport, JFK airport, and other popular places in the US to travel in a comfortable manner. Even ride-sharing has become a noticeable thing throughout the nation and it has contributed to reduce the road congestion in the US.
Both young and adult people are opting for a taxi driving as a full time or part-time job. And this has been contributing to an increase in the number of drivers in the popular US cities, such as New York, Miami, Los Angles on a large scale.
