For fans of trapper Lil O’self, the weekend proved to be a Double feature as the RCA emcee dropped off another song tagged with 66. But while we were busy bumping that he was also making new moves on prospective tracks with French-British rapper from London Octavian. All tracks are rooted to Fighting Depression with his Music. “Music for me is just a revenue to share my idea and if not for music I did be pushing drugs, and There aren’t enough Emo songs to fight Emotional Abuse and I feel with Emo trap I can change a lot” Lil O’self tells The American Reporter on an interview.

The collective songs on his Ep 66 feature a range of artists across multiple art forms from Production, Graphic Design, Photography, Videography, and Illustration. Lil O’self does share a valid point; the Nigerian mainstream hasn’t really been accepting trap purists in the last couple of years. Many Nigerians with influence in the music industry simply will not bank on trap as their go-to when they believe they can earn more from more accessible genres and only engaging with it as convenience present the opportunity to make Emotional trap for anti-Depression campaign.

Depression is a common problem in the world from Africa to Asia, Europe, Australia, Antarctica, North and south America, Depression causes changes in mood and loss of interest and pleasure. Music therapy, an intervention that involves regular meetings with a qualified music therapist, may help improve mood through emotional expression. This systematic review aimed to assess the effectiveness of music therapy for depression compared to treatment as usual (TAU) or psychological therapy. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), “Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year.”

Although anxiety and depression are separate conditions, many people who suffer with depression also have anxiety or vice versa. The ADAA states, “Nearly one-half of those diagnosed with depression are also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.” A Psychology Today article also points out the fact that researchers and doctors have been shifting toward a new conclusion about the disorders, stating, “Depression and anxiety are not two disorders that coexist. They are two faces of one disorder.” Lil O’self, 18 year old Trapper from west Africa  had a lot of impact to make.
