Supreme Court has Allowed $2.5 Billion for US-Mexican Border Wall

Donald Trump faced some victorious moments on a major issue he had raised. US supreme court has approved the use of $2.5 billion in military funding for building a wall on the US-Mexico border. Supreme court has withdrawn the two decisions of the federal judge that denied the Trump administration to use the military fund to make a wall. The federal judge had showcased that the executive branch’s fund are not appropriate for a project which is not allowed by Congress.

The US military personnel and training is carried out with the fund given by the Pentagon. Earlier this year, US District Court Judge, Haywood S. Gilliam Jr., of Oakland blocked these funds from being used on building a border wall. But Trump administration argued on the issue and asked them to make it allowable due to the declared national emergency at the border in February.

ACLU brought the cases to Gilliam on behalf of the Sierra Club and Southern Border Communities Coalition. Supreme court found that private groups are not suitable parties to challenge the allocation of federal funds. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Clarence Thomas ruled in favor of lifting Gilliam’s injunction. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor supported the lower court’s decision.

Constructing a wall along the US-Mexican border remained a vendetta to stop illegal trespassing since Trump’s presidential campaign. And according to this website, razor wire or concertina wire are being extensively used in the construction of that border. They are usually used to prevent people or animals from passing through borders. As the US is facing problems in trespassing on some of the border areas, installation of these type of wires could prevent illegal immigration of refugees.
