Darrell Johnson appears to be working as a crisis manager of singer R. Kelly who presently is in Jail. Johnson is an inner circle member of the defense team of Kelly. He happened to talk ill in one of his interviews.

Kelly is in custody at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. He has been held there without bond. Separate indictments have been laid on Kelly by the Northern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of New York, which is based in Brooklyn for which he was arrested on July 11.

Recently on Monday’s “CBS This Morning” Johnson made a rude statement in his interview with Gayle King. Stepping down as the singer Kelly’s crisis manager Johnson remarked that – “He would not leave his daughter alone with someone accused of pedophilia.”

R. Kelly’s Crisis Manager, Darrell Johnson, doesn’t trust him, and Johnson further expressed that he is extremely worried about Mr. Kelly as he feels that Kelly is not doing well in custody. It is difficult for Kelly to busy himself with books in his cell due to the inability of reading and writing. At this point he would assume that Kelly is under suicide watch.

The exact role of Johnson in Kelly’s defense team is not very clear. After sometime in his conversation with USA TODAY Johnson brought out a new twist in the story. He confirmed that he is no longer working for Kelly as his crisis manager or his spokesperson. His earlier comment about Kelly is a pedophile has nothing to do with Mr. Kelly. He made that statement for his own personal reasons.

Not only this, Johnson’s role has been unclear for months. The media referred to him as a “publicist” or a Kelly “spokesman” when he first appeared on the scene in Chicago after Kelly’s first arrest on state sex-crime charges. To add to it, earlier this month in Atlanta he got into an argument with the father of one of the R&B singer’s girlfriends during a press conference.

A couple of Kelly’s attorneys informed USA TODAY that Johnson has been acting as a PR person in the team of Steve Greenberg, who heads Kelly’s legal team in Chicago. Johnson is neither a lawyer nor a member of Kelly’s defense operation team.
