While other countries may be claiming they are ahead of the game when it comes to keeping their people safe from COVID-19, America is actually home of the latest technology that is truly helping keep people safe while a vaccine gets worked on.
And behind one of the most genius products is Pouya Hashemi, the CEO of RapidScreen, a cutting edge advanced Artificial Intelligence thermo-imaging technology thermometer and facial scanning system.
In simple terms: The product scans people’s faces to ensure they are wearing a mask, don’t have a fever and scans for other things too. It’s been recommended by the FDA and adheres to CDC and EEOC Guidelines to safely re-open businesses such as theatres, schools, workplaces, etc. and is fully non-contact and fully automated.
We spoke to Pouya about his product and how he came up with it after surviving from COVID-19 himself!
Tell us about RapidScreen and what exactly it does!
Our RapidScreen Fever Detecting Kiosk is the latest innovation in covid-19 screening and virus protection. Built with functionality in mind, the NDAA compliant RapidScreen kiosk is a contactless method to easily and efficiently scan users’ temperature within seconds. Features include mask detection, fever alarm, text/email notifications, and more to safely run day to day business operations at ease.
Why is this product and technology needed now more than ever?
It is no surprise that thermal screening kiosks are needed now, during a pandemic. In this case, we’ve come to a realization that this virus is not going to disappear overnight. We can now safely open businesses and operate through and pandemic, and most importantly slow the spread. Devices like our RapidScreen thermal kiosk will also help prevent the spread of other viruses and illnesses such as the common cold or flu. By monitoring users temperature and only allowing access to those with a normal temperature, RapidScreen can help reduce potential risks.
What types of businesses are you finding most have been inquiring and purchasing the kiosks?
Businesses that are considering reopening or have high foot traffic are interested in our thermal scanning kiosk technology. We are currently seeing a strong demand for our RapidScreen Kiosk in corporate office environments, government buildings, schools across the country, a multitude of medical facilities, as well as manufacturing and production plants.
What does the price for these units cost?
Pricing for our latest RapidScreen temperature kiosks can vary based on the configuration options and volume. We always suggest reaching out directly for a custom quote. We also have attractive leasing options that start at $99 per month per unit.
Is the device approved to be used across the country?
The FDA recommends utilizing thermal temperature scanner systems to reopen businesses, such as the RapidScreen Thermal Scanner Kiosk. Our device is NDAA compliant, and adheres to CDC’s official guidelines for mitigation and the EEOC.
What regulations in regards to AI and products like yours would you like to see changed in the future?
During these desperate times with a growing need for solutions like thermal kiosks, we’ve seen an increase in the formation of new companies trying to capitalize on this business. Foreign companies are overcrowding the market with poor quality products that may infringe on users or businesses privacy. We hope to see an increase in regulations that monitor the safety of AI and facial imaging technology through devices such as temperature kiosks. With this change we encourage and hope to see more US businesses take over the industry alongside spinTouch.
What is the rest of your game plan for 2020 and dealing with this virus?
As living with the virus has become the “new norm”, we are working on enhancing our product with the newest and most up to date technologies. Our next step is to utilize QR code technology and integrate the Covid-Screening survey/questionnaire with our RapidScreen Temperature Device. This will ensure that businesses are utilizing all Covid-19 related guidelines to allow entry through one device, RapidScreen.
On a personal note: You survived COVID-19. What was it like experiencing it and what do you want people to know now from your experience?
When I was actually experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, there were still no known cases here in the US. At the time, I just figured it was a flu or something similar. Once I was better and news came out about the virus in the USA, I tested for antibodies and the results came back positive. I was relieved to find out that I had overcome this virus but also wanted to find a way to help others during this time. It is a very serious virus and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. People react to it differently but I do encourage everyone to practice social distancing, wear a mask and stay home when sick. Together, we can slow the spread and overcome this virus!
