With the high infection rate of coronavirus, stopping its spread became the priority for all countries. Each citizen has a role in keeping their bodies healthy and resilient to the disease. In doing his part, Kimana NeilStrong shares his health and fitness knowledge to non-martial artists.
Kimana, the founder of APIP Martial Arts, primarily aims to help martial artists in developing their athletic performance in their respective martial arts fields. He devised specific training schedules and meal plans for all of his clients. He introduced various tips and techniques for his clients to jump and kick higher, split lower, and strike harder and faster.
To cater to his clientele’s needs, he used the knowledge he acquired from his formal education at Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus), majoring in Exercise Science; he graduated “Top of Class” with a 4.0 GPA. He also gained certifications for personal training specializing in corrective exercise, youth exercise, nutrition coaching, and sports performance enhancement to train martial artists to become the best versions of themselves. As a third-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo, he also applies his practical experiences in teaching his clients.
In training martial artists, he discovered that the critical components for a leveling up the martial arts kicking skill involve sports science concepts. These include plyometrics, flexibility and mobility, core fitness, balance and stability, strength, and healthy joints and muscles. Martial artists who have undergone his training have improved their physical fitness for martial arts. As a result, they are more formidable opponents in sparring, patterns/Poomsae/forms, and have upgraded their basic, intermediate, and advanced martial arts kicks.
Given the wealth of fitness and health-related information that he possesses coupled with the current global crisis, he decided to offer online nutrition coaching for individuals who need guidance, motivation, and the know-how to lose body fat, gain muscle, and boost strength. To increase the effectiveness of the meal plans, Kimana strictly observes the nutritional habits of his clients by using cutting-edge technology, which shows custom calorie and macro calculations and monthly calorie and macro updates. He conducts monthly weight assessments to see how close the clients are to reaching their goal.
Besides his monthly coaching programs, he also presents fitness training plans that people can access and coach themselves accordingly. Through this training, clients can develop their strength, have more stamina, be more flexible, and maximize their fitness. He prepares a custom training program depending on the client’s goals and body type. Being a client-centric type of trainer, he analyzes the effectiveness of the exercises for the client and gives them feedback on their technique. To see and appreciate the result of the plan, he conducts monthly performance assessments.
In all his online training sessions, he always motivates his clients by sending them daily inspirational messages. Furthermore, he calls them weekly to check in with their progress.
All individuals can achieve high fitness and good health practices. Kimana understood this simple concept as early as eleven years old when he started taking up TaeKwonDo and competed for two years. With patience, willingness to accept challenges, and resilience, anyone can start their fitness journey and succeed in improving their strength and physique through mindful training.
