Death Wish Coffee Company Pivots to Selling T-shirts to Provide Financial Support to Local Businesses and Their Employees

Death Wish Coffee Company, in partnership with the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, has started to raise funds to support the service-industry workers who are impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The coffee brand hopes to raise $75,000 by selling T-shirts and donate the fund to the local businesses and their service-industry employees working in the Capital Region.

The company made its T-shirts live from Wednesday, 29th April, at 11 am. Each T-shirt is available for purchase at the cost of $25. They come in unisex sizes, ranging from XS to 5XL.

The T-shirts come in two designs. The first one was inspired by a popular meme from their social media pages that read, “When this is all over, please continue to stay at least 6 feet away from me”. The engagement they got on the meme from their audience told them that the slogan would work on a t-shirt as well.

The second T-shirt has a design of a skeleton that carries an inspirational quote, ‘Broke, Not Busted’, which is the name given to the fundraising campaign. This T-shirt was designed by Melanie Lucia-Clarke, a local tattoo artist who used to run a custom tattoo shop along with her husband, Pete Clarke. Her business was severely affected as all the non-essential businesses like hers had to close down to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Shannon Sweeney, the marketing manager of Death Wish Coffee Company, declared that now it is time for the company to pay back their community of small businesses who have supported them for all these years. People like bartenders, baristas, servers, massage therapists, barbers, and cosmetologists, who don’t usually get paid leaves are the focus of the campaign.

The usual scenes of Saratoga Springs, New York, included a bustling downtown scene with people enjoying a drink or two during the happy hours in the evening. Small groups used to gather at their favorite eateries or sip on a coffee with friends in a sidewalk cafe.

The entire scenario changed within just a few months, and coffee shops, restaurants, and sidewalks became empty. Local economies are breaking down, and the very financial structure that has been in place for decades is being put to the test in communities across the world.

It takes innovative companies that also have a big heart to step up and make a difference in their community during times of crisis. Bravo to Death Wish Coffee for making a difference in Saratoga Springs!

About Death Wish Coffee Company: Death Wish Coffee Company started as a small coffee shop in 2012 in Saratoga Springs, NY. The founder of the company, Mike Brown, saw the rising demand for coffee, both strong as well as delicious. He worked on creating a fine blend of beans and combined it with his new and unique roasting technique. This gave birth to the ‘World’s Strongest Coffee’.
