2025 Gold Cup: The easiest bet types to consider

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is one of the most thrilling soccer tournaments for North and Central America. Mexico, the USA, and Canada are among the teams to have qualified alongside 13 others. And Saudi Arabia will participate as this edition’s invited guest team.

Betting on tournaments like this can be tricky for newbies since they have different formats compared to regular league games. For this reason, we have compiled the easiest type of wagers if you are looking to bet on this year’s Gold Cup.

Straightforward bets for the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup

The simplest Gold Cup bets are futures like tournament winner, group winners, and top scorer. We’ll explore each one of these below.

Tournament winner

Betting on tournament winners in the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup may not be the safest bet to make, but it’s certainly the easiest. As the name implies, you’re betting on a specific team to win the tournament. Odds on this market are typically called long shot odds because there’s not a clear picture of who’ll win yet, so probabilities are very slim.

Usually, though, only a handful of teams have a good chance of actually winning. So the idea is to take a bet on one of the top teams. Canada, Mexico, and the USA tend to be favorites since they have prolific squads. The main draw of the tournament winner bet is that it’s very profitable if your prediction comes true. And the earlier in the tournament you bet, the more profitable the odds.

Group winners

The Gold Cup starts off with the group stage, which has four groups consisting of four teams each. So, an easy bet to make is which team will finish at the top of the group. Group winners are usually not difficult to predict, especially where there’s a significant disparity in team strengths.

For example, anyone with even the tiniest knowledge of soccer would want to place a bet on Canada to win Group B, where they are group mates with Honduras, El Salvador, and Curacao. Similarly, Canada will likely be backed by oddsmakers in individual matchups against these teams. If you’ll be following all matches, you can bet on moneyline odds for single events too. Sportytrader offers top picks and predictions for this bet type, and where you can find the best odds.

Depending on where you bet, you may also be able to bet on Group runners-up, as second-place finishers also move on to the knockout stage. Although upsets and surprises are common in this sport, the round robin style of the group stage usually favors consistency and reliability of strong teams.

Top scorer

Another easy Gold Cup bet is “Top Scorer”. This is simply a bet on which player you think will score the most goals in the competition. This requires you to focus on those players who are prolific at finding the back of the net.

Team quality also influences this kind of bet. Countries with a solid squad will offer their star players the chance to shine and score more goals. You can find similar player props like this for individual matches. For instance, which player will score the first goal in a match?

The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2025 holds from June 14 to July 6 across 11 cities in the USA and Canada. If you’d like to bet on this tournament, you’ll find plenty of markets available at top online sportsbooks. The most straightforward bets, though, are ‘tournament winner,’ ‘group winners,’ and ‘top scorer.’ These bets are loved by the pros and great for beginners.
