We all strive to find our passion. Whether it’s in terms of finding a hobby or looking for a career, there is a constant need among humans to find what we love, so that we may make the most of our lives.
Meet Melanie Avalon: a young intelligent woman who began her journey acting in community theatre in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Resolved to make a career of her creative passion, Melanie left high school early at the age of 17, to enter the early entrance program at the University of Southern California. She then graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double BA in film and theatre, while achieving the highest GPA in the School of Theatre. While in college, she interned for many aspiring producers including Jerry Bruckheimer, Julia Pistor (who is also the former head of Nickelodeon Movies and Executive Producer at Mattel), and Jim Whitaker at Disney Studios. While at USC, she won a Hermes award for one of her short films, as well as The Louise Kerckhoff Prize for best essay of the year in Gender Studies. Her career then took a turn when her work granted her entrance into the official actor’s union, SAG-AFTRA.
While establishing her career, Melanie experimented with various dietary protocols in order to support a camera-ready figure. Eventually, she found her way to the now-popular, but then fringe “intermittent fasting.” She soon became obsessed with the science of diet to not only support a lean physique, but more importantly, for the health benefits. Shocked by her success with intermittent fasting to lose weight without hunger or restriction, Melanie resolved to write her first book, which eventually became What When Wine: Lose Weight and Feel Great with Paleo-Style Meals, Intermittent Fasting, and Wine, now available in stores nationwide. She also launched her first podcast, The Intermittent Fasting Podcast, with co-host Gin Stephens.
Melanie’s podcasts (she has since also launched The Melanie Avalon Biohacking Podcast) have received millions of downloads, with more than 200,000 listens each week. Her podcasts consistently chart in the top 100 Health podcasts on iTunes, often reaching the top 20. Believing there is not a single answer nor solution when it comes to health, Melanie interviews the world’s top doctors, authors, and researchers from all different viewpoints. Guests on her show have included the likes of David Sinclair, Dave Asprey, Robb Wolf, Wim Hof, Dr. Daniel Amen, Dr. David Perlmutter, Dr. Steven Gundry, Dr. Robert Lustig, Gary Taubes, James Nestore, and many more.
