Woodney Pierre’s upbringing took place in Toronto and her soul music reflects her Haitian roots. Being a daughter of an opera singer, she has followed the footsteps of her mother. She gave many performers at school and churches while growing up.

It made her find music which is now an inseparable part of her life. She is pursuing both singing and songwriting in her musical journey. Woodney Pierre lost her brother Mathew in 2012 to suicide and she only managed to recover from this setback by embracing music in her life.

Following this incident, she founded her foundation, The Matty Jae Youth Foundation, where she spreads awareness about mental health issues and suicide. Woodney Pierre considers singing as an instrumental element to help express herself and communicate easily.

She has a mighty voice and a smooth tone along with a strong faith in music. Through her music, Woodney Pierre continues her healing process, and she is coming up with her first single, ICI, which is produced by Ottawa-based Jos DaGreatest at the B.O.D.B Studio. Distributed by APCM, the single “ICI” will appear on all streaming platforms on May 28th, 2021.
