When asked about her greatest achievement at this point in her career, Marie Blanchard drew a blank. She could not pinpoint one specific success as being her most memorable or important. “Honestly, I’ve never really thought about it. I always have my hands in different baskets of goals I want to accomplish. When I finally achieve them, I check them off one by one and celebrate to myself!” Describing her career as simply having her hands in different baskets is a very modest description of the work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit Marie Blanchard possesses. With all the businesses and fields of work she has been involved in, it is no wonder Marie has such a hard time deciding on one shining achievement to place above them all.
In 1996, when Marie was just ten years old, she immigrated from Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to the United States. She would spend the following two decades moving from city to city up and down the East coast before finally finding her current residence in New York City. Blanchard’s constant travel was one of the most stressful eras of her life, but it allowed her to achieve the mindset to never take advantage of the time you are given somewhere. Living in the moment gave Blanchard the inspiration to pursue her dreams and become an entrepreneur.
The New York entrepreneur has seemingly built a business empire around her desire to advocate for proper health and fitness. Blanchard’s work has felt her leaving immensely fulfilled and rewarded: she can help others achieve physical, nutritional, and psychological goals they set for themselves. The fulfillment she receives is quite possibly her favorite part of owing her own business, and Blanchard wants young entrepreneurs to know they can succeed as well. “I believe that being an entrepreneur involves being resilient and consistent. In terms of growing and maintaining a sustainable brand, it is important to first learn who your audience is,” Blanchard shares. She continues, “It involves not being afraid to take risks that others may find uncomfortable.” On top of her work as a fitness coach, Blanchard has authored a healthy living book, Dieting Deliciously, works in modeling, and founded the Designer Bag Exchange, which connects private sellers with verified bag dealers.
