Liza Jane was born Liza Jane Catana in Key West, Florida in 1998. A naturally talented singer, Liza Jane began singing at the age of two and has not slowed down in her musical efforts since. By age 10, she wrote her first original song, “Go Back to California”; was invited to perform at the historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Key West at age 11; recorded an original song, “Where are you now” in New York City at 13; and released her first album at age 16 in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, she was the first soprano vocalist to win a competition at the Florida state district level with a “superior-plus” rating, and as an Italian-American, has appeared on stages in Florence and Rome, Italy.

Diversity through music:

Liza Jane is a highly versatile singer thanks to the wide variety of music she has studied and performed in, from choir, rock, pop, and jazz, which has allowed her to transcend audiences worldwide. To further her studies, Liza Jane has recently crossed paths with Gary Catona, a renowned vocal coach from Los Angeles, who has worked with such famous singers as Whitney Houston, Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, and Andrea Bocelli. In addition to her vocal coaching, Liza Jane is currently majoring in classical voice performance at Belmont University in Nashville.

Of her first album, Brent Long, tour manager for artists including Brad Paisley, stated: “Liza Jane has a unique, soulful voice… and I think it’s something you could hear on alternative pop charts. Liza is on a great track, doing some really cool things.”

Despite her motto of “Music is My Life,” Liza Jane also holds passions outside of music including eliminating homelessness among veterans and preventing suicide. In addition, she is currently a member of the Nashville Opera Guild and she has volunteered for the Nashville Opera Association.

Among Liza Jane’s recent song releases are “ASLEEP,” ”PEOPLE THESE DAYS,” and “ALONE IN A CROWD,” the latter of which received over 100,000 YouTube views in a short period of time. Liza Jane describes her latest singles as being written with an emotional honesty that touches the soul. More singles are expected to be released soon and will be available at lizajanesmusic.com.

Using music to raise awareness for a good cause:

In a recent news article, Liza Jane joined the ranks of many other popular singers when she spoke out against depression and anxiety. According to the article, she serves as a role model to many people, demonstrating that anyone can still be a high-achiever despite depression. Other singers who spoke publicly about the huge global health problem of depression includes Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie and Ben Platt. Liza Jane also raises awareness on the issue of homelessness and suicide among veterans.

Final scoop

Rising through challenges and embracing a life of music since the age of 2, staying on course to reach each of her goals and turning heads at prestigious events with a very diverse fanbase may begin to describe this talented singer-songwriter. Anyone who seeks to discover more about Liza Jane will learn that this deeply emotive singer deserves a special place in their music library.  Her new album is certainly much anticipated by fans.
