Considered the world capital of entertainment, and a dream destination for many aspiring artists, filmmakers, musicians and other creative dreamers, Hollywood is also extremely competitive and only a few of them manage to build a successful career.
One of these dreamers is French composer Gioacchino Marincola. Coming from Menton, an idyllic and quiet small city on the French Riviera, he has been living in Los Angeles since 2016, and has been climbing the ladder of success since then. Going from working as a composer’s assistant, to orchestrating on a Cartoon Network series, to composing additional music on an animated series produced by Dreamworks and being the main composer on a highly anticipated horror feature.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2016 with a Major in Film Scoring, Gioacchino made the move to Los Angeles and started working at Bear McCreary’s Film Scoring company Sparks and Shadows, which is known for creating the music for many iconic television shows such as “The Walking Dead” and “Marvel’s Agents of Shield.” He then worked as a Score Coordinator on the movie “Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon” produced by Aardman Animations and in 2019, he was hired by composer Matthew Janszen to work on animated shows, such as Cartoon Network’s “Thundercats: Roar!” as an orchestrator and Dreamworks “Archibald’s Next Big Thing” as an additional composer.
Additionally, Gioacchino is working as a composer for several commercials and is currently scoring the feature horror film “Blow Out the Candle” directed by Pierre Tsigaridis and produced by The Rancon Company. The movie stars Kristina Klebe (Hellboy, Halloween, NCIS), Tim Scott (Shameless, Westworld), Danielle Kennedy (Narcos, Insidious: The Last Key) and Rebekah Kennedy (Criminal Minds, Law and Order SVU).
It is clear that Gioacchino’s career has been trending upwards since moving to America, and doesn’t show any sign of slowing down.
