As a life coach and experienced business professional, Leigh Ann Orsi understands the unique challenges of women in the workplace, even in modern times. Networking has always been the best way to improve your professional life, but women network differently than men. They bond differently, so professional women created women-only networking groups to connect more deeply.

The Significance of Women’s Networking Groups

It is necessary to point out that exclusivity is not the point of women-focused groups. If it were, the premise could become a setback for the professional woman’s standing.

Women in women-only networking groups are also encouraged to participate in mixed groups. Also, some women’s networking groups permit all genders but clearly state that the primary focus is on women.

The main focus of these groups is to offer a safe place for women to interact and connect. Women face many unique challenges in the workplace. These groups provide an opportunity to make connections, advance careers, and offer a place to share stories and feel empowered.

Vulnerability Without Sacrifice

Leigh Ann Orsi explains that women-focused networking events seem less competitive and sales-focused. In traditional networking events, you are selling an image of yourself, and that image might not align with who you are, which can be psychologically damaging.

Women-centric events are more supportive and accepting of the individual. A lot of the support stems from experiences. Women-only events allow for vulnerability without the risk of judgment, which can feel liberating.

Commonality and Improved Relationships

The shared experiences of women in the workplace can result in improved and longer-lasting relationships. Many women who attend networking meetings build close friendships and an inner circle of professional allies. They will use this close-knit group to advance in their careers and build confidence to branch outside for other network connections from either gender.

Support Rather Than Competition

The business world is competitive enough without also having to compete for connections. Many networking attendees for women’s professional groups explain that the experience feels more encouraging and uplifting than competitive and degrading. Women’s organizations and networks are about lifting each other and helping each other to be the best they can be.

Networking Is the Way to Get Ahead

Networking is not optional. To advance in any profession, you need to increase your contacts list. Leigh Ann Orsi notes that she wouldn’t be as successful if she didn’t make an effort to meet new people. If you want to advance your career, find like-minded women and get the support you deserve to make the most of your career goals.
