Translating one’s vision into reality is a feat that many have failed to accomplish. Countless have tried to materialize their dreams, only to be faced with the harsh truth that the process will always be easier for those who were born to money and privilege. However, if there is one thing that a considerable number of powerhouses have proven, it is the power of dedication and perseverance. Misael Guerrero is among today’s widely acclaimed personalities who have succeeded in seeing their goals come to fruition despite the odds. As he continues to dominate the food industry, he aims to send across the message that humble beginnings can serve as the breeding ground for success.

Originally hailing from Sinaloa, Mexico, Misael Guerrero is the highly accomplished founder of Chulitown, a well-loved restaurant founded in 2010. Given his impressive portfolio, it can be easy to assume that he managed to snag a long list of accomplishments without any complications, yet this could not be any farther from the truth. The passion-fueled personality entered the scene with nothing on his back but an unrivaled culinary background, a deep-seated love for his practice, and the determination to make it in the competitive industry.

Growing up with parents who owned various restaurants and grocery stores allowed Misael Guerrero to learn the nitty-gritty of the food and beverage space. He brought with him this expertise when he moved to America more than a decade ago. “I remembered my arrival in the United States in July 2007,” he recalled. “Like many of those who came to the country in search of better opportunities, I had to start from scratch. I worked in different jobs, all of which involved various responsibilities and provided insights that contributed to my personal growth.”

Fueled by the mission of establishing his own venture, Misael Guerrero started demonstrating his skills at the kitchen by selling tamales. In 2010, he intensified his efforts, turning his garage into a makeshift base of operations. “By then, I had already earned the patronage of a large number of clients who preferred the taste of Sinoala—a flavor that has always characterized my dishes,” he added. Ultimately, his decision to launch a small business in the comfort of his home would lead to the birth of Culichitown.

Culichitown, a fast-growing company that gives tribute to the Culichi people who have inspired Misael Guerrero from the get-go, currently has over 20 branches serving the people of Southern California and other states in the country. It has generated jobs for more than 1,000 individuals and hopes to reach greater heights in the coming years. While it is undeniably his greatest legacy so far, Culichitown is not the only ace up the sleeves of this renowned go-getter. On top of Mama Por Dios, which opened in Rancho Cucamonga last year, he also unveiled La Condesa in Santa Monica in April. The company plans to expand to Downtown LA and San Diego.

More can be expected from Misael Guerrero in the years to come because, despite the achievements attached to his name, he shows no sign of slowing down. This month, he plans to open the new branch of Mama Por Dios in Beverly Hills and aims to cater to the people of Arizona soon as well.
