The Mom Kind Offers a Safe Space for Families of all Kinds

When we hear the words family blog, we tend to imagine a mother and father with their kids. But the reality is that image does not represent every family out there. Those families obviously exist, but there are families of all kinds. A single mom and her kids. A single dad and his kids. Two moms. Two dads. Two married people without kids. A family does not necessarily involve having children or being heterosexual.

Although a big majority of family bloggers fall under the stereotypical definition of a family, there are those who do not. These bloggers have opened their blogs up for other individuals to share their experiences and talk about what family means to them. It is important to give advice and share knowledge for all sorts of families. Alicia Trautwein, the mind behind The Mom Kind, knows this and has allowed different women to share their story on her blog.

The Mom Kind’s Mission

Alicia Trautwein started her blogger journey when she realized there was not enough information out there for parents of autistic girls. She was diagnosed with Autism along with her children receiving the same diagnosis—as well as other diagnoses. As she began doing her research, she noticed there was a lot of information when it came to boys and Autism, but not much for girls. So, she decided to take matters into her own hands and began writing her blog.

The Mom Kind serves as a resource for many different topics. She discusses Autism, Parenting, and Special Needs, among others. But the great thing about Trautwein is she does not just focus on what she has to say. She has opened the door for other parents or writers to give their input and share what they know about life, families, and other diagnoses. At the end of the day, blogging is about creating a community that understands each other and can be helpful in times of need.

Beyond Motherhood

What is mostly expected from a mom who blogs is to share her insight on motherhood, her experience, and any advice she could give other mothers like her. However, Alicia broke this stereotype and opened her site for other kinds of women to share their experiences. One article that shows this is the guest post by Marcy Bialeschki who wrote “Childless By Choice: 5 Things Childless People Want The World To Know.”

This is a great example of why women do not need to have children to lead fulfilled lives. An example of families that are formed without kids. Trautwein knows how important it is for these individuals to have representation and be able to read articles that relate to their lives. She is not only opening the floor for neurodiverse families, she is allowing everyone to be heard.

If you want to follow Alicia Trautwein’s journey, you can follow her on Instagram and TikTok to see what she and her kids are doing. They will open your eyes to a new perspective of seeing and living the world.
