A talk with Raimondo Rossi, also known by the stage name Ray Morrison, a fashion editor and photographer, who became an icon of style.

We met Raimondo Rossi, whose story may be really inspirational for our readers. Coming from a little town in central Italy, from a closed-minded environment, Ray started to get noticed in Fashion Weeks when the photographers of GQ, Vogue and The New York Times, seeing him on his way to the shows, got attracted to his style and shot him for the articles about the “best-dressed men of the Fashion week”. He’s now an esteemed fashion editor and photographer.

His charming style

After being selected and posted in many magazines for his always-different way to dress, the swiss NZZ, which is a newspaper of record, selected Raimondo as “one of the 10 style-icons to watch for menswear”.

Q. “Hi Ray! You became an icon of style. How did it happen and what’s your goal?”

A. “Yeah it happened! I love to change a lot my styles, fashion is a game and we all have to play with it! I love to be always a simple man, very friendly with everyone and humble, but I love to show my creativity and maybe this is what people love! Not just big brands, we can create style also with garments found in nice street markets or taken from our parent’s wardrobe. Life is colorful and so are we! Fashion doesn’t own us, we have the power to be confident and stylish, in every way we decide to dress ”.

His work as photographer and fashion editor

This artist works against stereotypes. In Vogue Italy you can find some of his no-photoshop inclusive photos. At the end of the page you can see the link to his personal gallery. His work, both as fashion editor and photographer, is focusing on creating editorials where fashion highights elegance and human rights. For him, fighting discrimination is a must.

Q. “Hi Ray, what’s your project in the Fashion industry?”

A. “I love working on inclusivity and fighting every form of discrimination. I got bullied when I was a child (I was fat and sweet) and I wanna just spread good vibes, without forgetting the elegance, typical of the Italian heritage. I‘ve been really happy when Rolling Stone defined me as one of the most original authors in fashion and portraiture photography”.

Future

Q. “What’s in your future?”

A. “Travels and travels, after Covid times this is the priority. I’m going to have a beautiful project in a wonderful NYC magazine, I still can’t say more or the name, but it’s gonna be amazing! Be ready at Barnes & Noble, because you will find the magazine in there! A big hug to all the readers of The American Reporter!”
