The tattoo industry of New Mexico was under the control of the Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists until a few years ago. But Ben Shaw changed that. He drafted Senate Bill 275 with the help of Sen. Jacob Candelaria. Together they created a set of regulations to be followed by tattoo artists in New Mexico.

Moreover, the ‘Board of Body Art Practitioners’ got formed, and today, Ben Shaw serves as the chairman of the board.
