Twitter has announced to take down fake photos and videos from all the tweets present on its platform. The company said it will start the process from March and it will add labels or remove tweets with manipulated digital content. Twitter announced its plan just one day after YouTube declared to remove all the misleading content from its site.

Twitter announced through a blog post to apply several tests to identify misleading or fake content from tweets. And for all the manipulated tweets, it will assign a label to identify them effectively. The social media company said it will also release a warning statement to address people on staying away from posting manipulated content.

Yoel Roth, Twitter’s head of site integrity has said that the company aims to ensure complete public safety in the online environment. He said that it is not the subject of concern for the company to identify the technologies used in creating the manipulated content. Rather, it will only focus on targeting manipulated content in order to ensure a more safe environment for twitter users.

The number of users on Twitter has been increasing and hence the use of certain platforms or apps to download twitter videos has also increased significantly. However, it has been observed that there are certain elements that are spreading some misinformation by running their propagandas. Hence, Twitter has decided to take necessary actions against such elements present on its official platform to provide a safe environment to people. The process to separate the manipulated content from twitter will start from the beginning of March.
