‘Stay Alive’ Anti-Suicide Mobile Phone App receives grant from the National Lottery

The anti suicide app “Stay Alive” was launched in 2014. And its purpose was to prevent suicide among people. Since then, the app has been downloaded 120,000 times. It is a large number of people, and the app has positively affected many lives. It is saving many people from acting on their suicidal thoughts.

The app is an effort of Grassroots suicide prevention in UK. Recently it received a huge grant from the National Lottery. It will help them carry out their four year development and evaluation plan. The funds will improve the Stay Alive app. And it will help people with thoughts of suicide and those who are worried about someone else.

With the help of the funds, Grassroots will be able to bring in house digital expertise. It will further develop the app and promote it among users.

The head of development at Grassroots Suicide Prevention, Alex Harvey expressed his gratefulness to the National Lottery. He also shared how excited he is about the opportunity to take the Stay Alive app to the next level. It will help keep many people safe from suicide.

He also appreciated the fact that having a funding for four years helped Grassroots expand its in-house team’s expertise. It will promote a progressive and responsive way of work in the company.

Alex also said – “Ultimately, the aim is to make Stay Alive the most helpful, intuitive, comprehensive and well-used resource available to people at risk of suicide and those who want to help them.”

Even John Knights, the senior head of the UK portfolio at the National Lottery Fund said how creative the idea is. He said it is important that charities and community organizations not only work for the future but in the future. They can harness the power of digital to improve the reach and improve the society.
