Human trafficking, known as the modern-day form of slavery, affects millions of people worldwide at any given time. Its most prolific type, sex trafficking, continues to victimize vulnerable individuals irrespective of gender.
Despite how prevalent this kind of human rights violation — where people are subjected to force, fraud, coercion, and more to obtain sexual services from them — is, a glaring lack of awareness about its nature remains to be one of the driving forces behind this 150 billion dollar industry. This is why certified Canfield success coach and consultant, Gwen Medved has signed on as executive producer for the filming of It’s Happening Right Here, which is a documentary that sheds light and awareness on the more than 300,000 American minors being lured into the sex trade every year.
Gwen is a successful entrepreneur, established product investor, author, speaker, trainer, and coach known for her deep commitment to family. Her signature approach to speaking with a “compassion of truth” has made her relatable, creating an instant connection with her clients and audiences.
This Canfield transformational trainer and values-based leadership coach graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University and an M.Ed. in counseling and Human Services from DePaul University. She has always advocated for the success, health, and safety of women, children, and families, and it does not come as a surprise that her recent venture is in raising awareness about a social issue that victimizes and dehumanizes countless people across the fifty states.
In It’s Happening Right Here, Gwen has teamed up with Emmy® Award-winning director, Nick Nanton, in the filming of this illuminating documentary. She also joined the Emmy® Award-winning DNA Films crew for a day of filming in San Diego and was on set for Nanton’s interview with Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad. Ballard and his organization will be highlighted in the film for their work in fighting trafficking, especially in cases involving women and children being brought into the U.S. from other countries. Together with the film crew, Gwen also engaged in the behind-the-scenes tour of San Diego’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The trip facilitated a conversation between the task force commander and the producers about cases involving minors who are trafficking online and also allowed Gwen to ask questions regarding the efforts exerted by the police in fighting child exploitation and human trafficking in the United States.
The documentary is set for release this coming Fall of 2020. And as it follows the men and women who have joined together in the mission of rescuing millions of lives trapped in sex trafficking, the film aims to inform the general population and make a difference in the lives of the victims of this monstrous form of exploitation happening right in people’s backyards.
Aside from the film, Gwen is also preparing for the upcoming book debut of Pillars of Success. Pillars of Success showcases Gwen’s collaboration with other leading entrepreneurs and professionals, including best-selling author Jack Canfield, as they offer impactful pieces of advice meant to help readers find success. Tentatively scheduled for release in the Fall of 2020, a portion of the royalties from Pillars of Success will be donated to Entrepreneur’s International Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating awareness for charitable causes.
Gwen’s multitude of ventures has deeply reflected her commitment to professional success and willingness to share her vast knowledge. Her passion for helping others will continue to mark her future projects, and she looks forward to giving a hand in the realization of people’s goals.
