Shane Jackson, better known by the artist name, Tuesday Knight came from humble beginnings. Grew up on the Hudson River just outside of New York City, in a typical working class family setting. Shane was the youngest child in his family and had two older brothers. Shane was introduced to Hip-Hop music at a super young age due to his brothers. He always wanted to hang around them and that kind of music was always playing. He quickly fell in love with hip-hop and rap music, so much so that Shane, memorized the entire NAS album, ‘It Was Written’.
Shane first started writing lyrics when he was only five years old, making “cheesy” verses to the beats of his favorite songs that he’d write down in his paperback notebook. This was something Shane loved to do growing up and oftentimes he did this with his brother Sean. In High School, Shane recorded his first song with his brother. Together they recorded a star wars song that depicted a rap battle between Shane being the Jedi and Sean being the Sith. But it wasn’t until a few years after college that he decided to pursue Tuesday Knight as a full career.
Freshly graduating from Cornell University, Shane got a job working for Lehman Brother’s. He said this about his time there, “the money and lifestyle was nice, but I couldn’t get my mind off music.” Ultimately, he built himself a recording studio, and pursued a career in music on top of his 9-5 job. It’s been a non-stop challenging grind for Shane but one he’s been able to thrive in.
Under the name Tuesday Knight, Shane released his first professional EP titled “The Rehearsal” back in 2016. Since then, with his unique early 90’s hip-hop vibe, he’s been honored as the BET Jams artist of the week. With Shane’s skill, passion, and love for making music, his future in the industry is bright. Be on the lookout for Tuesday Knight’s new album set to release in the coming months.
