The Koi Diamond, weighing 32 carats, is a one-of-a-kind multi-colored orange and white diamond. It’s been shaped like a pear to resemble a Japanese Koi fish, and it represents the wealth and tenacity associated with the lovely water creatures.

The Legend of Koi Diamond

The Koi Diamond captures the legendary oriental Koi fish well. According to Phil Butler, this magnificent 32-carat pear-shaped diamond has the mythology of the Koi fish within its distinctive structure.

Koi fish are thought to have descended from a single Chinese black carp that King Shoko of Ro sent to Confucius. According to legend, the Chinese reared them for food and taught the Japanese how to do so. They were bred by the Japanese, who discovered that future generations had a DNA mutation that resulted in a rainbow of hues.

The Japanese quickly began breeding these lovely fish as pets because they were so friendly. Since then, legends have sprung up around the Koi, and the fish has become a common motif in Japanese art. One legend, in particular, seemed to best represent the Koi.

A large group of Koi fish, gleaming like pearls just beneath the surface of the Yellow River, is said to have once grabbed the fancy of the local villagers. According to folklore, these Koi fish battled the current and made it all the way to a massive waterfall.

Today, Koi fish represent the ability to overcome obstacles. They serve as a reminder to endure in the face of adversity, and they have become an auspicious symbol of good fortune and wealth.

The Koi Diamond, like the legendary Koi fish, defies all odds and has become a symbol of the possibilities that await all of us. This diamond was discovered in the Republic of Congo in the early 2000s.

The Koi Diamond weighs an incredible 32 carats when finished. It has a pear form with white, orange, pale yellow, dark blue, and black splotches. These color variations make this stone as unique and lovely as the Koi fish, which it was called.

Eddy Elzas, a colored diamond specialist, rated it for the GIA, describing the opportunity to classify this unusual and exceptional diamond as one of the most monumental in his life.

The magnificent Koi Diamond was owned by Rawstone Business Holding in 2013, a precious commodities trading corporation with offices in Antwerp, Luxembourg, Shanghai, and Tel Aviv. When it is not on exhibit, it is kept in a safe in Antwerp.

Larisa Popova’s Role in Evaluating 32-carat Koi Diamond

In 2016, Larisa Popova, a noted diamond expert, evaluated the 32-carat Koi Diamond. The diamond belongs to Emmanuel Abramchuk, the partner of Eddy Elzas of Rawstone Business Holding SA in Luxemburg. Larisa’s evaluation noted the diamond’s excellent clarity and white coloration, giving it a high value. The Koi Diamond is a valuable gemstone that is likely to appreciate in value over time, making it a wise investment for those who are able to afford it.

Larisa is a certified appraiser, graduated gemologist, jeweler, luxury goods and jewelry expert, diamond polisher, and court-appointed expert witness with an established history of working in the luxury goods and jewelry industry. She is the owner of Gems Expertise, gemological expertise and evaluation company.
