Born in Hayward, California and raised in both Richmond and Vallejo, Tristin Murry is dedicated to bringing a new way to earn a living to the masses. Navigating the entrepreneurial world to create a successful business is no small feat and today we’re here with Tristan to learn more about his journey, his business, and his advice for an aspiring entrepreneur.
Tristin, let’s start at the beginning of your journey. What got you into entrepreneurship?
I realized that I wanted to have something to pass down to my kids and working at a regular job would not give me those opportunities. I wanted to create a business with longevity and sustainability that I can use to create not only wealth for my family and future generations but a legacy that can be passed down.
It’s amazing that you’re so dedicated to your family. Tell us about the business you’ve started. What is the concept?
Through this business we’re helping to provide the education needed to learn a new skill set of trading in the financial markets and also helping individuals become business owners themselves.
How does learning these new skills through your business help people?
This is a skill set that isn’t taught in schools. Financial literacy can be hard to achieve without the right information and we are helping to provide that information so that people have options in terms of their career. There are other ways to be successful and financially free without a job, and this needs to be recognized across the globe. By learning to trade or become a business owner or entrepreneur this can also help you gain more control over your time – when your finances are in order and the majority of your time isn’t going towards a nine to five job, you have more hours to put towards things that are important to you like family or hobbies.
What are some of your goals that you have for the future for yourself personally and for your business?
My main goal personally is to become the first millionaire in my family. For my business I want to impact as many lives as possible, especially the youth. I used to coach basketball, I started coaching in 2014 and in 2020 that’s when I stopped due to the pandemic, but I love teaching the youth and teenagers. So I’m just trying to expand and impact as many kids and adults as possible with this opportunity.
Getting to this point in your entrepreneurial journey must have been difficult. What kind of adversity did you face growing up and growing your business?
I grew up in a rough neighbourhood and being in that type of environment makes you grow up fast and develop a tough skin, but you also become resilient and learn to work harder for everything that you have or want. I didn’t grow up in a household with two parents and that has an impact as well. In February of 2012 I was shot in my neighbourhood, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. That was a huge wake up call for me to change my environment.
Thank you for sharing your story, Tristin. In closing, please share three pieces of advice that you would offer an aspiring entrepreneur.
First piece of advice, you have to stay disciplined. That’s what I’ve learned through this journey and I’m still learning. It’s easy to come up with a plan but actually sticking to the plan requires real dedication. Saving your money and not wasting it on material items takes discipline. Second piece of advice is to stay consistent. Doing something once isn’t going to cut it – it needs to be part of your daily routine. My last piece of advice is to never give up. Always go hard for your goals because nobody’s going to go hard for you unless you’re going hard for yourself.
