Music executive Dani Stephenson is out to change the music industry and the community. The entrepreneur and philanthropist is making a significant impact in business and the nonprofit sector as he continues to lead his company to greater heights.
Stephenson is the president of Straight Forward Music Group and co-founder of Mugal Group. He has over 15 years of presence and experience as a producer, talent manager, and consultant for some of the biggest names in music. The music mogul has worked on albums and artists with the likes of Drake, Lucky Dancer, A$AP Ferg, Anne-Marie, Celina Sharma, Ella Mai, Dave, J Hus, Big Sean, MANN, Diddy Dirty Money, and many more. Dani is also a consultant for superstars like DJ producer Don Diablo, Kelis, Alex Clare, Emeli Sande, and Gucci Mane.
Stephenson started off in the industry as a songwriter-producer under the pen name “Pyramids in Paris.” One of his early successes was contributing to the Billboard Top #20 hit single “The Mack” featuring Mark Morrison and Fetty Wap. The song went on to collect 300 million streams worldwide and sell 2 million records. Ever since then, Dani has been producing hit after hit.
Dani Stephenson was also involved in records like “Give It All” and “Survive.” He was also a significant force in “More Life” by Drake through his work with Nana Rogues, who pitched in on two songs for Drake: “Skepta Interlude” and the worldwide hit “Passionfruit.” Stephenson has been working closely with Nana since the company signed him in 2015. Since then, Nana Rogues has won a Brit Award for best song and music video. He has also received nominations for a Grammy award and MOBO award.
Straight Forward Music Group is the umbrella organization for four companies: Straight Forward Publishing, Straight Forward Music, Straight Forward Recordings, and Straight Forward Giving Foundation. Straight Forward Publishing takes charge of creative and global publishing services for the company’s clientele. Straight Forward Music handles talent management. Straight Forward Recordings, a previous imprint of Virgin EMI, is the A&R consultancy, music distribution, and marketing arm for the Straight Forward empire. Straight Forward Giving Foundation is the soul of the domain, spearheading all of Dani and the company’s charity initiatives and fundraisers.
Through the efforts of Straight Forward’s giving entity, the organization champions multiple charities for the underprivileged and marginalized. The not-for-profit arm helps initiatives like Princes Trust, NHS Charities Together, Young Lives Matter, and Youth Music. In recent times, the Straight Forward Giving Foundation has also been actively seeking out means to support families and individuals who have been affected by the economic recession caused by COVID-19. Millions of employees in the United States have lost employment due to the pandemic, and tens of thousands more get retrenched weekly. But through the efforts of companies like Straight Forward, communities are still seeing a ray of hope in this challenging period.
Dani Stephenson continues to push Straight Forward Music Group to new levels in the face of challenges and trials. And while the growth of the company has been phenomenal the past 15 years, there’s more headroom for growth.
Dani looks forward to brighter days as he sets his mind on going against the grain and pushing boundaries for Straight Forward and the music industry as a whole. He’s intent on building a lasting legacy by creating more hits, launching more breakthrough musicians and songwriters, and scaling his charity work.
