Family bloggers are taking over YouTube every day, and each one has their own unique style. So what sets them apart and why do kids love watching their videos so much? Let’s get an inside look with the famous family of Vania Mania Kids.
With 20 million subscribers, how does it feel to be so popular?
Of course, it feels great to be recognized on the street and receive warm messages from kids and parents. It’s amazing to know that we have such a large and diverse group of young fans. However, we also understand that we have a big responsibility to our subscribers because we’re being watched by young and impressionable minds. That’s why we always put a lot of thought and care into preparing our videos, making sure to avoid potentially harmful topics. We also have a psychologist on our team who helps us make sure our content is educational and good for child development.
Who in your family is responsible for the creative component, and who is responsible for the organization?
At the beginning of our blogging journey, my husband and I took care of everything from coming up with ideas to promoting our videos. This is because we really wanted to get a thorough sense of the industry. Of course, it was a very laborious, but fascinating process. Now, we still have a hand in writing the scripts, but we mostly focus on coming up with ideas and developing our business strategy after we’ve put out a commercial. We have a whole film crew now with a director, screenwriter, and others, which has allowed us to spend more time with our kids, travel, and take breaks. With this well-oiled machine in place, filming takes much less time and our kids can still attend school, play sports, and pursue their creativity.
How do you handle the filming process with so many young actors in your family?
We always try to stay on top of the latest trends in children’s content, so we’re always coming up with new and exciting ideas for our videos. Our younger kids love being filmed and often don’t even need re-takes or rehearsals. We have a little secret to get them even more excited: we never show them the props before filming so that they’re always surprised and their reactions are genuine. With smaller children, it is much more difficult to get them to act and fake their emotions. Our older kids are more conscious of their involvement and often help us out on set, quickly taking charge if there’s an issue and guiding the younger ones. These are the moments when we’re proud of our family’s unity.
While most of your content is meant to be entertaining, do you also try to impart useful information to your young audience?
Definitely. As a mother, I feel it’s important for my kids to not just sit in front of a screen all day, so we try to include educational content in our videos too. We have videos for the younger kids where they can learn colors, the alphabet, and other basic knowledge. We also have videos on more advanced topics like planets, physics, and more. It’s great to see that these videos are also popular because they’re not just fun but also informative.
What difficulties do you have to face while working and is it possible not to transfer them to personal relationships?
At the end of the day, family is the most important thing to us, and filming is just a small part of life. So if there are any issues that arise on set, we always try to resolve them within the professional context. Luckily, with a team of experienced professionals, there are rarely any conflicts and everything runs smoothly. However, recently we faced a big challenge when our film crew changed after 2.5 years of working together. It was tough to welcome new people into our lives and our work environment, since we had become used to our previous crew. The atmosphere during filming was like a second home to us, especially since we often filmed in our actual home. But we were able to overcome this change and move forward.
What are the values that you communicate through your videos?
My husband and I have always valued family and building strong relationships. We aim to raise our children with good values such as love, respect, mutual support, and understanding. These values form the foundation of a happy and healthy family, and that’s what we try to communicate in all of our videos. We also touch on topics such as sibling relationships, overcoming jealousy, healthy eating, the importance of sports and a healthy lifestyle.
