Robotics benefited the surgery world a long time ago. Four million robotic-assisted surgeries have been done since 2000 in medical sciences. Robotics help in the operations of cardiovascular, neurology, and even orthopedics operations. Though robotics gave medical assistance during surgeries, they weren’t a huge help in dentistry. Dentistry requires precision, and most of the doctors did not trust robots to do it. However, Yomi is the first robot to have done 1000 implants.

Earlier, dentistry did not take any advantage of the robotics. But now after FDA cleared Yomi, dentistry will take help of robots in implanting and many other jobs. According to Dawson Dental in Guelph, dentistry requires careful planning and a lot of precision; that is why the use of FDA approved robots sounds like a great option to help.

Yomi is a robot created by Neocis. Neocis is a company dedicated to expand the robotics technology in Dentistry. It is Neocis which announced the 1000 implants mark hit by Yomi.

The working of the robotics is difficult. One needs to get the hang of it before using it on patients outright. Yomi has computerized navigation that helps in the planning as well as the surgery. It means it helps with planning as well as the operation.

Alon Mozes, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Neocis, is excited by the progress Yomi is making. He said he is happy that their company streamlined the production of dentistry robotics. In his words – “We’re excited to see our increased sales and utilization further underscore the appetite for robotics in the dental industry.”

Dentists also appreciate the help Yomi brings to the table. They are able to treat the implant patients better with the help of Yomi.
