Revolutionizing the Patient Experience by Streamlining Retail Sales

Patients typically visit their doctor’s office when they have a medical problem and, at the close of the visit, hope to leave with a solution. Unfortunately, and all too often, they are merely given another problem to tackle.

This refers to the practice many doctors have of recommending medical products. Patients at risk of osteoporosis, for example, might be told to begin taking a calcium supplement. For those with allergies, the doctor might recommend eye drops. There is a variety of sleep aids that a doctor might recommend for a patient wrestling with insomnia.

The recommendation in itself is not the problem. Rather, it is the fact that the recommended product is rarely available in the doctor’s office. Patients who receive such recommendations are then faced with the challenge of tracking them down.

“Whether you are looking for a medical product online or in a store, you are confronted by dozens of options,” says Adam Miscik, Founder and CEO of MedBot. “Figuring out which one to buy is a challenge that can be overwhelming, even when you have a recommendation from your doctor. The ideal experience for any patient is to have clear direction and convenience when it comes to what they need to be healthy before they leave their doctor’s office. MedBot makes that possible.”

MedBot is a revolutionary solution that empowers doctors to provide all of the products their patients need at the touch of a button before they leave their appointment. MedBot leverages a powerful artificial intelligence engine to automatically recommend the right product based on the conditions diagnosed during the visit. Through a text message or email, MedBot provides patients with links to products curated by the doctor and available to be purchased quickly and easily from the doctor’s online retail shop.

MedBot fixes patients’ top three problems

MedBot addresses three major problems that patients have when it comes to following up on their doctors’ recommendations. First, patients struggle with knowing the best place to shop. The number of online sources for medical products is dizzying. In-person shopping also offers a number of options, from pharmacies to grocery stores to supercenters. With MedBot, the doctor’s office is the only destination a patient needs.

Determining which brand to choose is another problem that MedBot fixes. Rather than getting a recommendation for a multivitamin or compression socks, patients get a link to a specific product selected by the doctor.

“Even with something as simple as a vitamin supplement, the number of choices a patient will discover can be overwhelming,” explains Adam. “‘What company can I trust?’ ‘Is plant-based or animal-based better?’ ‘What size dose do I need?’ Often, the patient does not have the answer to those questions. Using MedBot is like shopping with the doctor at your side.”

The final issue that often confuses patients is price. When it comes to medical products, it is easy for a patient to overpay for a product that does not offer the quality of care they need. MedBot makes sure that doctors can recommend a reliable product at a reasonable price.

Doctors want to see their patients get the product that they need to promote their healing. Taking steps to provide those products, however, is taxing. There are three main problems that they face in making those products available in their offices.

The biggest challenge for doctors is the time that it takes to select and procure the products. It is not uncommon for doctors to work more than 100 hours per week. Setting aside time for identifying the best product at the best price and ensuring that it is on hand when patients need it is a task few doctors have time for.

“MedBot provides doctors with an extremely efficient process for selecting products, all of which are integrated directly within their clinic,” Adam explains. “MedBot brings patients, products, and providers together in a single interface to make smarter and faster decisions.”

Doctors often resist providing retail products for their patients because they believe this to be cost-prohibitive. MedBot fixes that problem completely, turning the current clunky retail process into an efficient passive revenue stream.

Finally, MedBot does away with the awkwardness that can arise when sales become a part of patient-doctor interactions. MedBot integrates with a doctor’s practice, allowing products to be recommended automatically based on the doctor’s diagnosis.

“MedBot allows doctors to give their patients a magical patient experience,” says Adam. “They don’t need to sort through dozens of options online or wander through a store hoping they can find what the doctor recommended. Instead, they can simply open a text or an email, click on the product, and have it delivered to their home. It removes the frustration, the guesswork, and the worry.”
