Tourists from across the world are visiting Tokyo’s Shitamachi or downtown area to learn about its history, craftsmanship, and distinctive culture in order to experience the Edo period. This place offers a lot of exciting crafts and traditional Japanese accommodation facilities for tourists. In the Downtown Neighborhoods of Taito and Sumida Wards, there are many exciting things available for tourists.

Areas such as Amazaiku, Edo Kiriko, and Chochin are popular for candy art, cut glass art, and paper lantern painting respectively with accommodations in Japanese traditional style. Taito ward is surrounded by Sensoji Temple, Asakusa Shrine and Sumida ward. It is an attractive point for tourists to know about traditional trades and craftsmanship. Tourists can also take a personal experience by making their own crafts for one hour and they can take home their own traditional craftwork as a souvenir.
