In today’s fast pace climate, a slow and steady grind is often discouraging for prospective musical acts. Those who have the talent and never work them, never become successful ultimately. Matias A’vone understood that hard work pays off in the long run. He believes that you should pave your way through trial and error rather than waiting for opportunities.

Matias Richardson, also known popularly as Matias A’vone, was born in Washington, DC. The music scene when it came to hip hop was almost nonexistent while growing up for the young rapper. Besides the few rare exceptions such as the platinum selling artist Wale, the city itself is known for it’s homegrown Go-Go music. Due to lack of musical infrastructure in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia), opportunities are scarce when it comes to home town artists. However, since he was a child, Matias wanted to be in music. So despite the circumstances, he tried to make it all happen.

Despite hailing from a city that isn’t exactly a hub for hip hop, Matias made music that inspired him. His music is quite diverse, being able to rap and sing he uses these abilities in unorthodox ways. Many of his tracks contain minimal vocal performance, leaning on the actual lyrics and feeling. Some songs feel stripped almost completely to the bone, while others have high production quality as well as catchy radio-friendly choruses. His determination and talent is sure to elevate him to higher realms in the near future.

Matias started his career when he was merely a pre-teen at the age of 12. He created obscure YouTube videos for fun ranging from lip syncing to dancing to some of his favorite songs at the time, no doubt honing his skills for what was to come in the following years. With his love of sharing content growing, Matias began uploading his original music which was self recorded on his iPod touch at the time. 10 years later, he is now a buzzing act in the music scene.

He has over 1 Million streams digitally and is making quite a ruckus in the rap world. Also, he has also been featured in several major publications including Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s own “Thisis50” site. His singles “U St” and “Show You” with former Mindless Behavior member Princeton Perez both are fan favorites getting assist from editorial playlists on both Spotify and SoundCloud. All of this without an initial backing of a label, his story is of grit and perseverance.

Matias didn’t look for outside entities to him out, nor did he wait for a record label to give them the shot. He went ahead and did it all by himself, for himself. During an interview with “Counter Stories” back in 2017 Matias was highlighted for his musical efforts in his hometown, finally securing his first major look in the City.

Thanks to his persistence and clear work ethic, he is now a promising prospect in the music industry. The young crooner is gearing up to release his forthcoming effort “Synthetic Feelings” soon. With planned appearances from YSL’s own Platinum selling Gunna, to his unreleased track with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, the project is sure to make a big splash.
