Salt Lake City, Utah – Dr. Nicholas Howland, who is a renowned Utah plastic surgeon, is best known for using highly innovative cosmetic surgical devices on his patients. One of his most advanced devices is called Renuvion, or “J-Plasma.” It is a skin tightening device that uses both radiofrequency and helium plasma to make a patient’s skin look younger and firmer. The results are so much better than any other skin tightening treatment that has been used before.

“Renuvion works best on areas of the skin that have a lot of elasticity, such as the inner thighs and arms,” said. Dr. Howland. “That is why Renuvion is usually performed in conjunction with liposuction. It is never a good idea to get liposuction in areas with highly elastic skin because the results won’t be so great. But if the patient has the Renuvion treatment applied to these elastic areas of their skin, then it will do a much better job of tightening them up.”

The entire process of Renuvion depends on something called subdermal cold atmospheric plasma. It is created by applying heat to helium gas until it is in a plasma state. After the device gets placed under the patient’s skin, it transmits the helium plasma and radiofrequency to their subdermal plexus until it shrinks. Once the subdermal plexus gets smaller, the outer surface of the skin appears tighter and firmer. The elasticity problem diminishes because more collagen proteins get produced in the skin.

Renuvion can be performed anywhere on the body, such as the face, neck, stomach, arms, and legs. Since the treatment gets applied through small hidden liposuction scars in the skin, the patient won’t experience any additional scarring after the surgery is over. There will be at least 1 to 3 days of downtime required, which is not that much time compared to other skin tightening operations. The skin will tighten gradually over the next six months following the procedure.

Anyone interested in Renuvion is required to have a free consultation with Dr. Howland first. The best candidates for Renuvion are people with loose skin in certain areas that they wish to tighten. These are usually areas with an excessive amount of fat deposits in them, which is why liposuction treatment should be used as well. However, a patient may not require liposuction in every case. Dr. Howland makes that determination during his consultation with them. Based on the results of the initial examination, Dr. Howland develops the best surgical plan to suit their needs.

There are not too many plastic surgeons in Utah that offer Renuvion to their patients. Most of the skin tightening devices on the market rely on an energy source to provide results to patients. Renuvion is different because it uses cold plasma to heat the subdermal plexus to a high temperature without damaging the skin tissue.

For this reason, Renuvion offers better results than any other skin tightening device on the market. Anyone interested in trying this revolutionary new surgery should contact Dr. Howland’s office at Howland Plastic Surgery and schedule a free consultation with him.
