7 Important Benefits Of Installing A Water Filter At Home

Regardless of where your water comes from, it is likely that it still has contaminants in it, or that it’s picked up something down the pipe on the way to your tap. These contaminants could be chemical, or they could be high levels of minerals. This can affect the taste of your water or even damage your dishwasher or washing machine over time. The best way to combat these issues is to install your own water filter at home. Let’s take a look at 7 important benefits that you’ll reap if you install a water filter in your own home.

1. Enjoy A Good Shower

If you are having problems with your shower head’s holes getting blocked, you probably have a limescale and mineral build-up issue. Installing a whole-house water filter will solve this issue and make your shower experience a lot better. Treated water can still contain things like heavy metals, and chemicals which can cause your pipes to corrode and damage them quite a bit. An additional home filtration system will get more of these nasties out and improve the quality of your water. Something that a lot of people don’t realize is that the water that comes out of your taps can seriously irritate your skin. Lowering the chlorine content with a filter can go a long way toward making your showers better for your skin and less drying.

2. Enjoy Peace of Mind and Safe Drinking Water

Access to safe drinking water is important. Heavy metals and chemicals can have unpleasant consequences, ranging from unpalatable water to extreme illness. While the vast majority of municipal water treatment facilities do a good job of treating water, there is always the possibility of contamination in pipes or failed purification at the plant. A home filter gives you peace of mind knowing that you’ve filtered it yourself and that it is definitely clean and pure.

3. Improve The Taste Of Your Drinking Water

It’s important that you drink enough water during the day, but if it doesn’t taste good chances are that you either won’t drink enough, or you won’t drink plain water at all. Coffee and soda are not a substitute for water in your diet. You need to consume enough water on a daily basis. A filter will improve the taste of your water, making it not only palatable but genuinely enjoyable.

4. You Won’t Have To Buy Bottled Water

This follows closely from the previous point. People tend to spend exorbitant amounts of money on bottled water because they either trust it more than tap water or believe that it tastes better. You can save a ton of money when you choose to install a filter over buying a bottle of water a day. It is also cleaner for your body. Bottled water tends to have microplastics in it as well as other chemicals, so it’s best to install a filter.

5. It’s Better For The Environment

Buying bottles of water regularly isn’t the best thing for the environment. As you know, plastic has a detrimental effect on the environment and even if you are good about recycling, there is no guarantee that your bottles will be recycled. A water filtration system might seem like a big investment, but it is cheaper than buying bottled water for a year and it is far kinder to the environment and way more convenient. You won’t have to carry heavy bottles from the car to the kitchen anymore.

6. Save On Soaps

Did you know that a high mineral concentration in your water can make your soaps less effective? This means you’ll need to use more soap in the shower and more soap to clean your clothes. Adding a water filter means that things like your washing machine and dishwasher will be able to clean more effectively and you won’t use up your soap as quickly.

7. Reduces Limescale and Other Mineral Deposits

Have you ever looked at the bottom of your kettle and seen a chalky build-up, or a flaky white substance floating around? This is limescale and is one of the most common reasons people choose to install a filtration system. This is typically what causes that mineral build-up and blockage in your shower that we mentioned earlier. It is a nuisance in your pipes and just doesn’t look attractive or particularly appetizing in a glass of water served to your guest.

A good water filtration system has numerous benefits for your home. It will alleviate the issues associated with limescale, and other mineral build-up and it will make your water taste better, too. It is also much better for the environment than buying bottled water on a regular basis.
